I have a rather large collection of Transformers that take up an entire Ikea shelving unit. About 65 inches wide, a foot deep, and and four shelves. So it's pretty big, and although my room is HUGE, I still feel like it takes up too much of a presence. If that makes any sense. I would still like to display them in my room, but would like to class them up, so it doesn't feel like my room belongs to a 20 year old. High end comic shops always have their toys in beautiful displays that make the same toy look may more impressive. So my question is, has anyone else felt their collection appearance needed an update, and how they went about fixing it. thanks

I just had an idea and wondered if anyone else thinks it's a good one: If everyone makes one post in here (please don't ruin it and post more than once!*) and writes a list of their collection of figures (or whatever) and updates whenever they get new stuff, we could all have an easy reference-point for our collection? (With a link to your "photo" thread too?) *I'm not sure if there's a limit on post length, (anybody know?) If there is & you fill your first post, start a "part 2" post maybe? If this works, could a Mod pin it please? Just post a "holder" post for now & update when you're ready! :thumb » Click to show Spoiler - click agai…

I've noticed that some people put their collection in different places. But I've been wondering, how many of us will admit where we keep them. I'll start. Mine are all over my room. On top of my dresser, my boudior, my nightstand, my bookshelf, and my closet. But when I post pics, I'm going to put them all on the dining room table for easier pictures. But to make sure they don't collect dust, I play with them in intervals, just to keep them moving. It's all awsome. There are some that I haven't even taken out of their box for fear that my sister will get ahold of them.

I was thinking about picking up a few of these when they are back in stock at my local IKEA in 2 weeks. Does anyone here currently use them? What do you guys think? I looked on eBay and i'm able to buy locks for them too so they'll be protected further from little hands and adventurous animals. Let me know what you guys think. IKEA Detolf

I got to thinking about the Transformers Animated leader class toys having batteries included and installed pre-package (see the "try me" features on these). The dilemma is if you keep them MISB, these batteries will eventually leak and cause permenant damage to the toy. I've seen what can happen with batteries left in unused electronics and its not pretty. So what do collectors do about this that are OCD about MISB? Do they break the seal in order to preserve the toy from battery damage? Or do they leave it as is? What do organizations like AFA have to say about this issue?

Well after 2 weeks on and off and more than 10 hours I haver my collection back up on shelves and more or less sorted by generations! I still have a crap load of carded KO's and other items to put up on display, but this is the first time I've had open room on my shelves and it feels good! So how often does everyone here go around sorting and cleaning up their displays?

We talked about it in the shout box a bit, and I wanted to see if we can make this happen.. Now, this is totally a discussion piece, it doesn't require people to chime in to think they're being funny by placing some unrealistic pricing, or that you would never sell yours etc..In this thread, you are. You need a new car, pay off college, quick cash and lots of it, having a child, married and need to make room etc..You are looking to sell your collection..You NEED to make money, and you have to bite said bullet and sell it all, BUT, you're not exactly sure how much you should ask for it. You don't want to give it all away, or sell your stuff cheap..You know what you pai…

Hey. I've got a massive amount of transformers, but no way to categorize the figures. I have folders with instruction manuals arranged by line and allegiance, but I have no way to categorize the figures themselves, or the figures without instructions or cards. So I was hoping that there's a site out there that allows people to put in their figures one by one and give them an up-to-date tally of their figures and maybe even an estimate as to what the collection is worth. Hopefully, this service might even be free. Does anyone know of such a site? Any help would be appreciated. I figured this would be an easier route to building my own site, as the whole intent is…

My friend Goktimus Prime (many of you may know him) is doing some research on this and asked me to survey Americans. I'm putting it on several forums, but please answer only at one. Don't count PVCs or variants. Thanks!

I bought Cybertron Mode Prime the other day. The plastic looks and feel high quality, but stuff keeps grinding down at an incredible rate, like the ball joints and the waist clip. Is there anyway to prevent this without NOT playing with the guy? I imagine making a protective coating on everything that grinds down in some way with super glue might work. The red plastic seems to be the problem, I think. To illustrate how bad his joints were before I did the super glue trick on them: He was floppier than my 10 year old Cheetor who had seen a LOT of play. And he didn't come that way, either. He was tight as all getout the first couple of times playing with him.

Does anyone else sometimes buy a certain Transformer based on how it will affect their number in their collection or some other numerical relation? For example, when my collection was approaching 666 I intentionally wanted to get an evil Transformer leader to commemorate my 666th Transformer. I really wanted Energon Megatron, but the toy wasn't out - so I got Energon Scorponok instead. On June 6, 2006 I went out to find any evil Transformer to buy - but the only one I could find that I didn't have was Cybertron Sky Shadow... who of course, turned out to be a freakin' Autobot according to his tech specs, which I didn't read until after I bought the toy (not that I had …

I want to know what everyone else thinks, do you perfer small collections (i.e ones with a few great toys) or large ones (i.e every last toy imaginable), or somewhere in between. And what do you consider too big? Please post, no flaming, swearing, etc.

What works best? Soap and water, alcohol, Goo Gone, misc. household cleaners? By the same token, should I make a strong point to avoid any or all of the above cleaning agents? Any help or advice would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Well, I've tried doing this a couple times. I'd really like to set up a gallery for my collection, and since I'm resetting my shelves, I figure nows the perfect time to start snapping pics. Here's my questions, and keep in mind I really don't know much about computers, but how do you do it? In the past I tried putting up pics one by one in the bulk uploader, but they never stuck. I also tried using a zip file, but, same thing. Is there a limit to the amount of pictures you can put in a gallery? Is there a way to do more then just put up a photobucket link? I'm gonna have 10 buttloads of pics to put up, and I just wanna know whats the best way to do it…
