i believe for an afterthought filler line, classics was the best line in the last 10 years...
i think energon was awesome...

Amen!

speaking of beast bots, a robot with a living outer shell is not a robot but a cyborg...

Well I always thought that the BW shells were synthetic, as in not actually alive. In fact didn't Cheetor say that the animal shells had mech fluids instead of blood, or something along those lines?

i think Mr. kennedy and MVP will be the next huge wrestling superstars...

Here's hoping, if they're actually given the chance to rise above IC/US title status.

I'd say it's synthetic. Otherwise we'd see lots of blood or bug fluid each time a BW TF was injured, maimed etc. in the show, but we never do.

I don't like the Beast Wars Cartoon because of the poor 3d :o

Actually the CGI was bloody good for its time (for a TV series - remember that they have much smaller budgets than feature movies). Won an Emmy Award for it too.

I like Movie Payload. And Energon Optimus Prime. And I don't mind Movie Leader Megatron (original color scheme), either!

I like Classics Astrotrain more then Henkei Astrotrain.

I like Classics Astrotrain.

I don't think all Go-Bot toys are trash (1980's toys, FOOL!).

Shh, I don't want to hear it. No hating, this topic is for posting opinions, I don't want to hear ANY counters.

• I hate Beast Wars.

Okay, so robot Dinosaurs never made sense. I never argued the alt form, as it was still a giant robot. I loved the cassette bots, even though they made little sense. Still, they weren't covered in fur/feathers/etc. It just won't make sense to me.

Nope, I don't care. You won't persuade me otherwise. It's not on DVD (or at least I haven't seen it on DVD, and don't care to)... I won't watch it, so short of kidnapping me and forcing me to watch it, no. No, no, no.

• I also hated the G1 movie. I had the same problem I did with it that I did with X-Men 3. Hey, let's just wipe out all the characters and clear the board for new ones.

• I never liked any of the bearded Transformers, even Alpha Trion. I can get that they need human faces, eyes, etc. All that. BUT A BEARD? OR MUSTACHE? COME ON.

• I LOVE the idea of Hearts of Steel and War Within. Not read them, as I haven't gotten into any of the comics (I don't need another thing to collect)

• The G1 cartoon was utter crap by today's standards. And the story plots after 3 episodes were basically the same, until they jumped the shark and started introducing silly characters or space creatures. After watching it as an adult, it sort of ruined my memories of what I loved as a kid. But it's still the darned coolest boy's toy concept EVER. Besides Legos maybe, or another building-block-toy like K'Nex, it's sheer genius of engineering for a toy. Even by today's standards, the IDEA is amazing. Okay so it was borrowed from Takara's previous lines, so what. Hasbro gave us a story, and Sunbow brought it to life. I still love that old crappy cartoon even if the animation isn't that great and the stories are kind of stupid.

• I love all the original 80s toys because I grew up with them, and it shows how awesome they were because they're bringing them all back for a second life. MOTU, TF, GI Joe, TMNT. Come on, these guys were awesome. I don't foresee a revival like that for Pokemon in the near future.

On multiple occassions I've bought bots over food, then bailed on social events so I could play with them(what an enjoyable waste this weekend was).

Oh, and although, I've never liked his work before, Mr. Bay and his "take it with a grain of salt attitute" has earned the closest thing that I have for respect concerning someone I never met.

I've met him! :D

I agree. I enjoy watching the cartoon mostly for the nostalgia factor, but yeah, it's quite camp.

The G1 comics on the other hand I still enjoy reading for its own sake and IMO it still holds up reasonably well by contemporary standards. Some of the art from the US comics and particularly Marvel US' cheap printing quality is sub-standard by today's standard (it sucked even compared to the UK comics of the day!). Nel Yomtov's colouring in the US comics was also crap. But I still enjoy the hand-done colours and paints done in the UK comics. It's a different aesthetic from the computer-assisted colouring that we have in TF comics today; and I like both for different reasons. I don't think that the hand-done colours and paints are by any means bad by today's CAD standards.

And there is a certain appreciation for the black and white comics too (again, it's a different style of comic art). I look at some of today's IDW comic covers in black and white and sometimes the art looks better without colour. I'm also not a big fan of contemporary comics' "wannabe manga" style... it's so try hard. E.J. Su pulls it off well, but IMO none of the other artists can pull it off convincingly... it just looks like Gaijin artists trying to be Japanese. In G1 we just had Marvel artists drawing in Western comic styles that they were used to. It was interesting seeing Andrew Wildman adapting his "super hero" style (which is what he was used to drawing prior to Transformers) and translating it into Transformers (although I didn't like Stephen Baskerville's inking which made it look too organic) - yet he's remained one of Transfandom's all time favourite G1 artists. :)

Hear, hear! Agree on all 3 points. I had to remove Payload's plunger before I truly liked him, and E-Prime just grew on me. Combiners do that.

I'm looking at GoBots Puzzler at this moment, just picked up from a member here. So very very cool. Six in-scale detailed cars that combine without magical add-on parts. Mighty robots, mighty vehicles- GoBots!
