Okay, here's mine:

I'm a MISB collector, and I don't care what anyone thinks about it. I don't resell, don't scalp, and I'm not a speculator. I just like the way they all look.

It took me a while to warm to the "Beast Wars" cartoon. By the time I did, though, "Beast Machines" came along and kicked me in the nuts with high-concept meh.

I wish there had been a TF trading card set back in the early '90s trading card boom.

I really like the G2 aesthetic, what with all the neon and giant character names and the different faction symbols.

And, until late last year, I'd never eaten Peanut Butter Crunch. Now I can't get enough of it.

I am a MISB collector also. I have to deal with those "i like to play with toys even tho im old enough to be your dad" people too...

Oh and I thought Cybertron blew goats.

I personally don't see the fun in MISP collecting. Playing with my toys is fun. :P But I don't care if other people want to keep their toys sealed - it doesn't effect the way I enjoy my toys. :)

You nearly sound like you're saying that the rest of us are "too old to play with toys." The funny thing is that I very rarely play computer/video games... I generally consider myself to have outgrown those. Yet a lot of my peers are the reverse - they play games but not toys. They may collect and display toys but they generally don't play with them. At least, not around me. Maybe they're all closet toy players, I dunno. I'll happily play with my Transformers in public. :D And sometimes I meet other Transfans who are willing to do the same, then it's on for young and old!! :)

On the whole I thought the toyline was really good. There were a few dodgy ones, but overall I quite liked the line. It offered a lot of variety too. I've never seen the Cybertron cartoon, but I've seen Galaxy Force and I like that show. Of course, dublations often hack and trash good stories... watching what RiD did to Car Robot was painful... watching Armada defile Micron Legend was unbearable. After that I refused to watch Energon and Cybertron, but I've heard the dubbing on those shows are even worse than Armada... and that thought makes me want to cry.

Alright Goki, we know you are the nerd kind of whatever country you live in...

fwiw i'd still be playing with toys if I had the time to.

Eh, my position on dublations....

Some dubs suck, some are great, some are in the middle. Regardless, they're needed. You can't convince people, kids or adults, to learn Japanese just to enjoy a cartoon show. Dubs are needed.

How they're handled is a completely different story.

And I liked Armada.

Ya i like the GF cartoon, not the Cybertron dub. I can't stand it.

Some dubs suck, some are great, some are in the middle. Regardless, they're needed. You can't convince people, kids or adults, to learn Japanese just to enjoy a cartoon show. Dubs are needed.

...erm... I don't want to start a subs vs dubs debate here. Besides, I use neither so it's a moot point for me. :/ I watched Car Robot. Then I watched Robots In Disguise. I found that RiD dubbing didn't do the show justice. I then watched Micron Legend and Armada more or less simultaneously... it made the RiD dub look good by comparison. That was just awful and probably the limit of what I could stomach. When people started telling me that the dubbing in Energon was worse, I just gave up on watching the dubs.

And I liked Armada.

better than Micron Legend?

Notice how I never actually said that the dubbing in Energon or Cybertron was bad or that I even dislike them. I've never watched those dub so in all honesty I can't comment on them at all. I've avoided them because people have told me that they're bad and I don't think that I would enjoy watching them. I'm content watching Super Link and Galaxy Force.

If you're going to compare two versions of the same show, then you should only do so if you've actually watched both versions. I won't make any real comparisons between Energon and Super Link and Cybertron with Galaxy Force because I haven't seen the English language versions of those shows. I will however make comparisons between Car Robot and RiD and Micron Legend with Armada because I have seen both language versions of those shows (in their entirety) and therefore can offer my opinion on the different versions.

If you're saying that you prefer Armada over Micron Legend - that's fine - but it needs to come from a position where you've seen both shows. Otherwise you're not in a position to comment, just as I'm not in a position to really comment about Energon and Cybertron, which I don't. I have absolutely no interest in ever watching Energon or Cybertron... but I don't actually comment on those shows.

My point pretty much boils down to this;

Sometimes a show is produced in Japan, like Transformers Micron Legend. This show happens to tie into a toy line that's being sold in both the English speaking world and Japan. So naturally the Japanese show needs to be brought over to English markets.

"Micron Legend" doesn't really work in an English context, so the name is changed to "Armada" for the English markets.

Similarly the show, having been produced in Japan, features Japanese dialogue. Which doesn't work out because most viewers in the English speaking, kids and adults alike, world don't speak Japanese.

So the options are to 1) not use the show at all and lose the primary conveyor of fiction for that toyline in one of that line's largest markets 2) use the show with the original Japanese dialogue, or 3) dub an English translation over it and stick it on the air.

I think it's safe to say that kids wouldn't be interested in a sub-titled series, they don't watch television to read. So you pretty much have to go with a dub. That dub can excellent, poor, or somewhere in between depending on how it's handled, but the dub itself is necessary if you want to broadcast the show in English markets.

Dubbing itself isn't a bad thing, but sometimes the execution of it is poor. Sometimes however it's quite good. Other times it's somewhere in between.

And I liked Armada.

I never saw Mircon Legend, nor do I have any interest to see it. The same goes for SuperLink and Galaxy Force (to be fair I didn't really stick around for Energon or Cybertron either).

I'm not saying Armada is better then Micron Legend, I'm just saying that on its own I find Armada to enjoyable (I flat out loved it when it first debuted). Micron Legend may be better or worse, I don't know. I have no interest to see it.

I don't speak Japanese, and I'm not going to learn it just so I can watch a tv series. And watching an entire series in subtitles doesn't appeal to me either. English is my primary language, and I speak a little bit of French on the side. So for better or worse the English dubs are what I have to work with.

I'm willing to concede the Japanese versions of the UT shows may be superior, I just have no interest in watching them as I don't speak Japanese.

I don't like the Animated aesthetic (the rules though).

I like the Cybertron Soundwave/Universe Blaster mould.

I think IDW's reboot is the best version of the G1 story yet.
