Most disappointing TF

BW Rhinox. It is only due to the fact that the gun has the peg on the wrong side, and the dumb mutant mask makes him look like has huge ears. One of my favorite characters from BW and I felt that he really got jipped on the toy due to the gimic that would never be.

you gotta remember tho the toy came out like a year before the show was made tho. i just pulled the mutant mask of and filed the parts it attaches to down. also trying to cut away part os the beast mode feet so that i can have his arms come out of the rhino feet like on the show. i already jacked up one trying to do it tho.

and supreme cheetor. i had erased that horro from memory.........he doesnt even get stored with my tfs

I agree 100%. Seems like RID/Armada/Energon had 3 consecutive sucky Optimus Primes. It wasn't until Galaxy Force/Cybertron that this trend was broken. Still, that's feint praise.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. RID Prime is easily one of my favorites of all time. I liked him enough to buy him four times (so I could display him in all three robot modes); three red and a fourth Sam's Club yellow. Plus I got the red and yellow Spychangers too.

A lot of people talk crap about RiD Prime just because it's an Assemblyformer, but I have to say I found RiD Prime more fun than Cybertron Prime. At least with RiD Prime, both robot modes look distinct. Cyb Prime's super mode is just the same robot with bigger feet and a heavy backpack. :/

RID Prime is the spearhead that takes Transformers back to being "Car Robots". As a toy, he is brilliant.

Cybertron Soundwave for me. I was really looking forward to him for a long time, all of the photos looked great, people seemed to love him, but when I got him... meh. He was kinda flimsy, the stuff hanging off his arms looked out of place in person and were restrictive at times, and his jet/shuttle/whatever mode didn't hold together well. I was expecting greatness, but got something kinda mediocre.

I kind of knew what to expect as far as appearances went.... I had studied some galleries quite closely. But I was truly disappointed in the QC. My latest pet peeve regarding QC are the arms that swing forward and lock at the shoulder. LMegs and LPrime even use this mechanic. Energon Jetfire's use makes me even more nervous b/c it's under tension. Even though there's no tension on the joint, Cy Soundwave is especially bad. His right arm is notorious for flopping around at the shoulder (on mine at least). I've been considering inlaying some curiously strong magnets to hopefully hold the arm in place, by holding the assembly screw in the shoulder piece against his torso.

The other thing that irks me is his legs' tendency to get in an inverse-bowlegged position, due to that joint just below the knee needed for transformation. Movie LMegs kind of uses this same joint idea for his transformation, but his leg holds WAY better in bot mode. Regarding SW's legs, this just poses a bit of a restriction when posing.... along with his kibble. I kind of wish you could fold his wings back or SOMETHING. It kind of reminds me of the Lego sets they started making where 50% of the set was some HUGE otherwise unusable piece.

Bleh.

Beast Machines Cheetor. The articulation was good but he couldn't stand up for anything and the tail weapon is terrible.

I'm gonna say G1 Hot Rod...er, "Hot Rodimus". Looked for him for years as a kid, even wrote Hasbro one time and they wrote back a couple weeks later and actually said they didn't have the mold anymore.

Then came the reissues. I pre-ordered. I waited. I waited some more. I waited even longer until finally UPS shows up with this little box and I tear into it, thinking back to all the times I made my mom take me to Toys R Us or, god forbid, Kay Bee Toys to try and find that damn toy. I pull him out, transform him out of vehicle mode, thinking, y'know, I'll just pose him next to a few other bots on my shelf...

Not happening. Why is it not happening? Because there is no such thing as "posing" G1 Hot Rod(imus). It just can't be done! Why not just make it a cardboard cutout? Maybe a brick with leftover Prime arms screwed onto the side or something! I'm still a little sore about this whole situation...

On that note, I'd have to say the figures I was "Most Pleasantly Surprised With" would be the entire series of "Laser Rods" from G2, those things were awesome...and poseable as all hell too.

Heh, Hot Rod. I had the Targetmaster version when I was a kid. You think displaying him is bad, try playing with him. First I lost his gun the day I bought him, which isn't Hasbro's fault, but soon later the head broke off, but I was able to wedge it into place to still play with it. Then the hinge on the chest broke, but I could still get it just right to fake his transformation. Then when the entire top portion of the car broke off I just gave up. I wasn't even that rough with my toys as a kid, I had friends that would just smash their toys together (usually with me holding one and grinding my knuckles in the process), but it was always my toys that got broken...

Yeah, I agree, I know not everybody thinks one Transformer is the best because everybody has their favorite and it's not the same Transformer most of the time.

Another one I want to list, and I might get lynch for saying this:

G1 Fortress Maximus.

The more I looked at it, the more I am happy about selling this toy a year ago.

Yeah... G1s usually aren't all that posable...

Actually, I think I might put my Laser Rod into Most Disappointing. I loved Electro. He even had movable legs! Awesome! And a cool head, and nifty transformation...

... then he fell apart. First his leg snapped off. Then his other leg. Then the rubber band holding his hips on snapped. Sigh.

It would be years later that I would learn about "Gold Plastic Syndrome." And suddenly, it all made sense.
