Human Alliance Bumblebee...

Recommended Posts

Just want to highlight the details that are facing the wrong way without doing the mod

BeeMod1a.jpg

is the left one a robot replica?

I may finally decide to pic this up, but I will definitely have to replace the wheels. They should have been real rubber tires. :shrug :wtf. Now I'm not sure as I also would need to replace his cannon arm with a real hand. Maybe make a custom cannon to fit over either hand. Give him the Alt/BT treatment.

Still not sure though. :schin

From that shot it looks like HA BB has a really hollow chest... but he looks sweet nonetheless. Can't wait to finally find him in stores.

Anyways, does anyone have a shot of Sam next to a Joe fig?

Off topic: Is that a custom Sideswipe with a Shelby-esqe paint job or something else altogether?

Yup its a custom Sideswipe :)

Color me envious. It's damned sharp looking. :thumb

I'm really interested in this figure. But before that, does anyone have a comparation pics of HA BB with an alternators/BT and maybe with other 1/24 models car.

I heard someone said that it's the same size as Alt/BT but others said that it's not scaled and slightly smaller..

I think its almost the same size as ALTs/BTs. But it sure is bigger in bot mode.

check out seibertron.com's galleries, they've got a few comparison shots

Thanks. checked already. will there be any difference from Takara version?

I know there was no difference in previous movie line. but will there?

I know there was no difference in previous movie line. but will there?

That's a rather bold claim considering that the Human Alliance line didn't even exist in the previous movie line!

P.S.: there were some difference in some TF1 movie figures between Hasbro and Takara, e.g.: TakaraTOMY 1970s Camaro Bumblebee had clear windows whereas Hasbro version doesn't (the Takara version looks better in car mode but the Hasbro one looks better in robot mode), TakaraTOMY Incinerator is black whereas Hasbro's is grey (Takara's also comes with an AllSpark Cube) etc etc.

I just picked this figure up from TRU, finally. It's way better than I expected. I'm a bit tired so if something doesn't make sense in all the following babble, bare with me. >_>

Plastic quality feels pretty low. I may just be used to my Alternators, but it feels pretty cheap. Nothing that will make you keel over, but it also wont make you jump for joy, either.

Alt mode:

The alt mod is slightly smaller than most Alternators/Binaltechs. Its smaller than anyone not named Hound or Skids... Or any of their repaints, yeah. But this may be in scale. I'm not sure, I'm no car expert. <_<

Detail wise, it's kind of lacking in comparison to Alt/Bt. No opening hood/trunk, more stuff hanging from the bottom... But it's good overall.

Transformation: Not on the "God ****ing #*@*@!!" level that Grimlock may have been to some, thankfully. He's also not as simple as some other alts like the Vipers. He's near the middle, lingering on the easy side. Just take your time.

Bot mode: Sweet Jesus. People were NOT joking around when they say this is great. It's been discussed how great he is before, so I will just comment on a few of the down points.

First, the arm kibble. To me, it's not so bad. The chairs don't exactly scream out "Hi! I'm a chair! :B" and instead look like random robot-y bits hanging off. This is good in bot mode, not so much in car mode.

With the right arm(the cannon one), you can even fold the top of the chair in a tiny bit, which makes it stand out even less, I think. The left one is more annoying, because they just HAD to include the little gray artillery thing for Sam to "use." I think they should have spent less time trying to shove the "human partner" gimmick all over the place, and more time making the chairs fold in. All in all, these things don't jar out too badly unless you look right at them. The only thing that really gets me is that they are orange instead of yellow...

The head and surrounding area: Few problems here. After the mountain of stuff above, the following stuff is nothing.

Basically, my problem with it is that there is no tilt. You can 'cheat' and move the head back a bit, but you can't have him look down, no matter what. The battle mask also looks silly because of the large hole in the center... I also hate the hood piece that sits right behind his head, as I can't seem to find a way to place it without it looking wrong.

The chest/abdomen:

It doesn't tab in very well. It seems it's always falling out and has to be readjusted. It's a similar problem to what most people have reported with Deluxe Sideswipe, I imagine.*

There's also a few other problems here or there that you would hate on any figure. The two license plates showing in bot mode if you don't have the shin guards up... The Screws showing in several bad places... Lack of fist-making abilities... But overall, this figure is a must buy. It's just easier to write about the negatives, you know? :tflaugh

*For the record, I've had three Sideswipes and none of them had that problem. But that's a story for another time...

Pic w leg mod...

Hey, different colored Camaro symbol, there... Did you paint over it, or what? May be a stupid question...

Edit: Oh, I also wanted to ask anyone else that has this: What is the peg on the middle finger for? I haven't transformed it back to car mode yet, is it used for that?

  • Author

Yes, I did a little repainting on my HA BB. I added black to the front bumper and silver to the Chevy cross...

The pegs on BB are for Sam to "link up" to. BB can hond him or have Sam stand on his hand... I'm not a big fan of the Human figures, but that's what the pegs are for...

Glad you enjoy this fig as much as most of us fans do...

I agree w you on the lack of head tilt. The head is on a ball joint, but very limited mobility?

And I thought for sure I would unscrew the seats on his arms, But again I agree they are not that cumbersome... I will leave them, for now...

Keep the praise going! Sideswipe and Skids are coming next!

I thought I wouldn't like the seats either, but they aren't bad. I do think they should have been able to fold down, though. It would just need a simple hinge joint for crying out loud. Other than that, it's a damned good toy.

I did the leg mod last night. Very easy to do. But here's a couple of warnings for anyone who has yet to do this, but wants to.

1) Do not screw the waist back on too tight. This will make it much harder to transformer him back into car mode, because you need to be able to push the legs in without popping other things apart.

2) Someone mentioned the difficulty of turning the waist around for his new transformation method. Yes, this was easily the hardest thing to do to get him back into a car. But eventually I found a way that you can do it without hitting the back part. First of all, you need to do this step with the back connected to the hood, both for transforming to and from. This will allow the most space for the leg to get through.

Okay, so when you go to push the leg around, get it in there as far as it will seem to go. Now carefully bend the entire leg in the other direction and back, until it finally goes through. It's hard to describe this, and I can't take pictures or a video or anything. But just work at it an be careful. :P

The pegs on BB are for Sam to "link up" to. BB can hold him or have Sam stand on his hand...

Yes, I figured as much. About the only purpose I get out of the hand peg is to make it look like BB is squeezing Sam to death. This may come in handy when Frenzy comes out, assuming he has the same pegs.

Oh, and I wanted to bring up something about my Sam figure... He has a little brown dot on his head. It could be a mole, blood, that crap he has all over his face in every picture you see of the movie... Eh. Discuss. :bounce
