Someone of Deviant Art made an Animated Female Dinobot that is based on a pachy...the domed headed ones. Now granted, the backstory is very fan-ficing (The bot was a human girl with cancer that, thanks to the allspark, got merged with an MRI machine to make the bot), but the design was rather good...so if you ignore that, if would work.

The main question is, which dino do you chose for the female? I mean, the basic 5 are the classic dinos: T-rex, trike, brachio, ptero and stego. What would be the female's? You want it well known...but you can't do raptor, as that is Dinobot, and he can't be a girl. Pachy I like as a girl, but is it well known enough?

Well, you could make her even smaller than a Raptor and make her a Compy. :tfevil But than, she's only be about the size of Wheelie. :tfhuh So far, with the five existing Dinobots, you have two based upon predators, and three based upon herbivores, so we'd definitely need another predator to balance them out.

A few choices that seem well known by features if not name.

Pachy is well known by to the dome on it's head (I know plenty of people that know what it is, just not the actual name of said dinosaur)

Parasaurolophus (sp?)-known by the crest on it's head and duck billed face and walking on two legs

Ankylosaurus-we all know what that is. It's the walking tank w/ a clubbed tail and spikes on its back.

However, both of thse previously mentioned are herbivores which would work well for a female. Most of the carnivores are too "masculine" looking to pass off as a decent female Dinobot save the Compy, who was really more of a scavenger than a real hunter. However, there are 2 ancient reptiles (one flying and one swimming) that aren't dinosaurs proper, but are usually lumped in with them that could pass off as feminine.

Ichthyosaurus-a swimming reptile w/ a long snout similar to a bottlenose dolphin's snout (just longer)

Ramphorhynchus (a type of pterosaur)-it'd be very distinguishable from Swoop in that it had no head crest and a long tail (which could become a clubbed whip in robot mode)

It's not that I don't like the Animated characters. It's just they wouldn't work well in the movie-verse IMO.

Well, one key point I disagree with you on about the Compy's they weren't scavengers. They were predators. They hunted small vertebrates and invertebrates. Granted, they didn't take on large game, but they were active hunters.

Let me put it this way. While the characters that are in the movie are pretty much the same as their original namesakes, at the same time, they're not.

I really disliked the idea of Bulkhead being practically identical to his Animated counterpart w/ the modification that his backstory included being friends w/ the Constructicons and their choosing to ally themselves with the Decepticons prompting his choice to join the Autobots. But it's still practically the same as Animated Bulkhead. And I'm sorry, Sari has no place in the Movie-verse, built by the Autobots or human or whatever. We have the Witwicky family in there, that's the primary human involvement. If they had chosen one of the other human groups that have been involved with the Transformers throughout the years (the kids from Armada, Kicker, the kids from Cybertron), then that should be it. Other human characters are fine, but none having such an important relationship w/ the Transformers themselves as Sam has already. Even the soldiers of NEST don't have the same type of relationship that Sam has with the Autobots.

Then we have bots that are named after later characters that either have been put into the G1 Universe or some other continuity (The Fallen premiered in War Within, and the name Mudflap didn't come around until Cybertron, and Jolt was a G2 Decepticon).

But considering most of the cast so far has been from the G1 Universe w/ one naming exception, most of them seem to be modernized versions of their original selves, so they're probably going to stick with that formula, which is why recomendations for Wheeljack and Prowl and the gang I'm fine with. But if someone suggests that Prowl be a ninja, then no, that Prowl has no place in the movie-verse.

So long story short, Lockdown has no place in the movie-verse unless they can make him a different character with no ties whatsoever to Animated Lockdown and his only connection is his name only like Mudflap, then fine.

Well, apparently, according to Hasbro at BotCon, the movie version of Lockdown is based upon the Animated character in movie styling. It is indeed going to be Animated Lockdown movie style.

I love how I said before all of this that Sari was just me trying to put her in, that I never wanted her in, just me seeing if I could do it....and yet people still think I was saying I wanted her in.

This is like how my joke thread about Jetfire's Father should be a toy (A wheel that turns into nothing) became a serious discussion.

For the love of pete, it was a joke...calm down kids!

I vote for at least one autobot combiner (new characters are fine)!! :yay but unlike the Devastator of rotf that wasn't actually a team.

after seeming all the toys hasbro could design, it shouldn't be that hard for them to come up with an actual team combiner of the movie line.

mean while, wishing for the same name of autobots to appear in the movie isn't really that exciting. i mean, sure, it's great to see another representation of the character you love, but IMO, the characteristic won't necessary be transferred. like the soundwave's monotone wasn't there in rotf.

I could still remember when I watched the 1st movie; the audiences in the theater were clapping when prime first speaks, so voice of character should be taken into account (not necessary the same person who did the voice, but the characteristic). :D

It's not that I don't like the Animated characters. It's just they wouldn't work well in the movie-verse IMO.

Er, they already have Alice, a Pretender. Having a technorganic isn't that too far a jump in logic, although Shia has already filled up the annoying kid sidekick quota, in spades, heaps, leaps and bounds.

Bulkhead actually seems like a good idea; his altmode is already Bay-ish to begin with. He's big, causes a lot of collateral damage, and is quite the caricature. Just give him the scrapply Bay robot mode, make him a one liner character with no real backstory, that stumbles and farts a lot, and you have a perfect addition to more Baysplosions.

Also, agreed with the Lady-bot Swoop idea.

Y'know seeing the movie again, and its abundance of Humvees, Jeeps and other 4WD offroad military vehicles, makes me think, couldn't they have made that one Hound? That one could definitely be Swindle!

And now that they have Soundwave, I say Blaster should be in it too. Make him a pimped out SUV.

Perceptor: Autobot version of Scalpel.

They need Bluestreak

Well aside from the Dinobots (yay Grimlock!) I can think of some other Autobots I'd like to see in TF3. Though I think the current answers contain to few amounts of new characters, I have a feeling we'll be getting at least 8 new autobots (not including Dinobots). But either way here's my predictions

~Returning Cast from ROTF~

-Optimus Prime (duh)

-Bumblebee (we need a yellow kids appeal robot)

-Ironhide

-Ratchet (does he even do any medical stuff in these movies?)

-Sideswipe

-Arcee

-Moonracer (seriously....moonracer?)

-Skids

-Mudflap

-Jolt (Only needed for combiners to well....combine)

~New Cast~

- Prowl : I'm sorry but I just can't come up with anything more perfect than the whole stealing barricade's identity thing.

- Stratosphere : I have an odd suspision that he will be the "mega bot" for the Autobots side. His plane mode already appeared in the movie and I think it would make sense he would appear in the film to fight Devastator or another decepticon bigbot.

- Breakaway: This is just me but I'd predicting the Aerialbots coming into play for the third movie and I think Breakaway would be one of them.

- Wheeljack

- Perceptor

- 4 other Aerialbots

Also I don't think we've seen the last of Powered-up Prime, my guess is after the final battle (I rise, you fall etc.) N.E.S.T. retrieved Jetfire's parts and have them stored at base for Optimus to use when needed....that or they put them on Ebay, either would work.
