Thought of two more...one I would like to see, the other is just my stab at trying to put her in the movie universe (we really should just do a thread where we covert any transformer into the movie verse, no matter how obscure or unlikely the character is).

 

 

Ultra Magnus (Autobot Strategist/New First Lieutenant) {Turns into a large Electric company truck...they are nearly as big as Prime's truck mode, and tend to have alot of interesting tools like massive drills that would wrk well for Magnus)- In another place, in another time, Ultra Magnus could have been leader of the Autobots. Of course, in another place and time, he could have been leader of the Decepticons. Even Megatron respects battle-hardened mind of Magnus. MAybe, if he had been in charge, the war would be over. But Magnus, for all his brilliant moves, is a soldier first, and remains loyal to Optimus Prime. He is happiest when taking orders...and it is only when he is called upon that he will step up and lead his team to victory.

 

 

Sari (Autobot/Human Guardian)- The attack on Sam by the Decepticons made Wheeljack realize that, while Bumblebee is a well skilled guardian, there are just some places he can not be. retrieving the remains of Decepticon Alice, he began to look at it, puzzle over this problem.Wheeljack put twp and two together. The result is Sari: based on Alice's design and using Bumblebee's spark and memory as a guide, Wheeljack created the perfect guardian for the humans Sam and Mikaela. Too bad he didn't bother to program her how to interact with people...but don't worry, Mikaela has "happily" agreed to show her the ropes (Sari transforms from Frenzy/Alice style Autobot robot to a roughly 20 year old woman...with the attitude of a child)

 

Yeah...I know it is very Terminator sounding...but so was Alice, and it was the only way I could think to insert Sari into the movie verse.

 

 

EDIT: One more...based on a custom figure I painted-

 

Wasp (Former Autobot Scout)- Wasp just wanted to show Leader-bot that Wasp could be better guardian than Bumble-bot. Wasp should have been chosen instead of Bumble-bot anyway to protect weak human boy-thing. But Bumble-bot humiliate Wasp...show Wasp up. Wasp just showing he better...Wasp didn't mean to almost blow up boy-thing. Leader-bot will regret sidelining Wasp though...Wasp...has...plans. (Wasp turns into a green Concept Camaro, and resembles Bee except for higher antennas and an altered mouth)

How 'bout the real Twins show up to 'retire' the really bad Twins?!

Dinobots FTW. Agreed with speech impediment because they're still trying to learn English, and they're kinda old models. Plus the idea of the Dinobots being millions of years old, having difficulty learning English, refusing to take new alt modes, gives them a nice crotchety old immigrant feel. So, with the Dinobots being (a) freakishly powerful (b) kinda silly by the third season of G1 and © a racial stereotype based on this treatment, they'd feel right at home in a Bay film! They can even put testicles on Grimlock and people can't complain because it's a Beast mode!

 

Hopefully, given their freakishly large size, they'll be the Macguffin for whatever super-villian that they come up with. Since Devastator's over and done with, Scorponok was a dinky little minion-bot, I guess we're left with Trypticon or Unicron as the super-miniboss. In fact, that kinda sounds cool!

I feel like (IE: It's probably not a good idea) But I feel like maybe... there should be... a...

Of course this is impossible. Why? Because you either have to add a new one (which would be stupid) or you have to make one of the Old ones female (which is equally if not more stupid)

 

So in the end you just end up ticking people off, which is something you don't want to do. Because it's stupid.

 

But I just can't shake that feeling...

I agree, it's not a stupid idea, at least not creating a new female Dinobot. I wouldn't give any of the existing ones a sex-change though. I've seen a number of fan-made female Dinobots already, so it's not entirely a new concept, nor an outrageous one.

Phew! I'm glad that my idea isn't a total dumb one like I thought it might be! But as you can see... it's still not easy to find the right way to handle it.

 

The problem is that there are disadvantages both ways. If you create a new character, you can fall victim to "Fan-Fiction Syndrome", and it also seems wrong to me to take possible screen time away from the "Genuine" Dinobots by adding a new one. If you have the correct number of pieces you need to build a puzzle, there's no point adding more, now is there? I feel that it's disrespectful to the fans; at least just a little.

 

But taking an existing Dinobot and changing it to be female is also wrong, because each dinobot has fans to whom it would be disrespectful, and it's not really a necessary change, is it? But then how many changes that have been made in the "Movie-verse" were genuinely necessary?

 

But then does using that kind of logic really justify making unnecessary changes for the sake of marketability? I imagine that Bay, Orci, and Kurtzman think it does, but then you all know I'm not entirely satisfied with the way they've handled things, at least in this last movie.

 

But then there's still the thing: I just feel that the dinobots might seem better... balanced as a team if they have a female member. What is one to do? :shrug

Now granted, the backstory is very fan-ficing (The bot was a human girl with cancer that, thanks to the allspark, got merged with an MRI machine to make the bot), but the design was rather good...so if you ignore that, if would work.

 

The main question is, which dino do you chose for the female? I mean, the basic 5 are the classic dinos: T-rex, trike, brachio, ptero and stego. What would be the female's? You want it well known...but you can't do raptor, as that is Dinobot, and he can't be a girl. Pachy I like as a girl, but is it well known enough?

A few choices that seem well known by features if not name.

Pachy is well known by to the dome on it's head (I know plenty of people that know what it is, just not the actual name of said dinosaur)

Parasaurolophus (sp?)-known by the crest on it's head and duck billed face and walking on two legs

Ankylosaurus-we all know what that is. It's the walking tank w/ a clubbed tail and spikes on its back.

However, both of thse previously mentioned are herbivores which would work well for a female. Most of the carnivores are too "masculine" looking to pass off as a decent female Dinobot save the Compy, who was really more of a scavenger than a real hunter. However, there are 2 ancient reptiles (one flying and one swimming) that aren't dinosaurs proper, but are usually lumped in with them that could pass off as feminine.

Ichthyosaurus-a swimming reptile w/ a long snout similar to a bottlenose dolphin's snout (just longer)

Ramphorhynchus (a type of pterosaur)-it'd be very distinguishable from Swoop in that it had no head crest and a long tail (which could become a clubbed whip in robot mode)

NO ANIMATED CHARACTERS IN MOVIE-VERSE!!!

No Bulkhead

No Sari

None of that at all!

 

It's not that I don't like the Animated characters. It's just they wouldn't work well in the movie-verse IMO.
