I don't have a particular problem with either Megatron, although my 2-pack Megatron has loose joints, particularly in the knees and hips. He can't stand with the fusion cannon attached. :/

The 2-pack Prime is fricken awesome, though! :bounce

Really, Megs sucks? I caved and bought the 2-pack today (mainly for Prime). I haven't opened it yet, so I don't know how good the QC is on mine.

Well, I like the figure, actually. Just that the joints are all loose, which can be remedied using Jin's super glue fix (see first post in thread). I'm going to try the remedy later, I'll post the results when I get it done. :D

I did this fix yesterday and it works great. He no longer falls over on his cannon! Thanks Jin

The thing is, it would've been trivially easy for Hasbro to mold his hands in the right shape to work properly out of the box, but I guess they couldn't be bothered.

Seems to me they're obviously meant to be that way. The one hand is covered by the hook and not supposed to show at all, and the other is posed at a "draw and shoot" angle, like a guy going for his gun in an old Western. They should have made it turn all the way, and set a notch so it'd rest in the "gunslinger" position... but I reckon that's why the hands are where they are.

Yeah, that's the thing. I've been thinking about changing the hands, but I do kinda like the way they look, for the reasons you mentioned. And it does seem to designed that way...Hasbro never makes toys to my knowledge with hands that won't come all the way out, why would they fail to do so in this instance?

Jin,

Can you post a pic of megatron with this new cannon arrangement? you may have just made me a believer in Vgr-Megs

Eh, he's kinda in pieces in the moment, oop!

Well, I tried the Lockdown mod, and well...let's say he now has an absolute reason to wear his hook hand. Well, now he's at least show accurate, but all kidding aside, I may go out and get another one, but may have to wait a while. When I got him yesterday, he was the only one I saw. All I saw were the Voyagers, the Prime/Megs two pack, Cyb Prime, BA, Ratchet, and one Lockdown.

:tflaugh

I had limited success with that one as well.

Jin Saotome I have no idea what you did in regards to that Bumblebee mod. All right though, I accomplished a similar effect by simply forcing the stingers further in the arms. The stingers have a fair bit o durability them and if a little added force is exerted they have no problem fitting properly into the arm cavities. Also it doesn't seem to wreck the stinger or figure. Once pushed in they pull in and tuck in with no added effort.

Noticed Starscream suffers Energon Mirage Syndrome. :tflaugh

Shine a light in BB's arm so you can see the little square pieces. They are what's keeping the stingers from folding in. Just gotta remove them. And if you're talking about Starscream's torso flopping around it has a lock. Force his forward and the nose of the plane locks into his waist.

Good God, I got Voyager Megatron tonight and the only part of the figure that I'm disappointed with is the fact that the damn fusion cannon doesn't fold up properly. Props to Jin and David Willis for pointing out the fix! :thumb

Willis tipped me in on that, yup. I was just gonna chop him up and call it good, lol. Which I kinda did already.

Hey guys, I'm in the process of working on Lockdown's hands. I'm using a drill-bit in place of the hobby knife. I'm altering between the 2nd smallest drill bill, and the largest(which would be the third smallest?) I have. (don't know the sizes, though. Sorry. I did include them in the picture, though.) I'm also hand-drilling, instead of using the electric screwdriver these things came with. picture_230.jpg

Anyhow, I'm wondering, are ya'll cleaning the section out completely, or just going half way to where it allows it to slightly straighten out (like the left hand is)?

Oh, and I popped the arms off the balljoint to snap this pic. They're not a pain in the butt to get back on, are they?

I wasn't able to do it with a drill because the piece cut out needs to be square. And nope, it doesn't need to go all the way back into the hand, just enough till the hand folds out which is about 1/2way into the meat.

I tightened his joints using these mods and he rocks harder than the Voyager megs! Awesome articulation and he holds his cannon the right way. Hip tightened and the leg-swivel tighten. For prime too.

hey jin this realy helps Oh and im the one making you that gift its going a little slow because im out of paint and paint remover but its going to be the magnus/metroplex :) k?

Aww thanks! Can't wait!

And I'm glad this thread has helped everyone enjoy their figs. I just picked up Bulkhead Voyager, he was great right outta the package aside from that weird black lever on his right arm. Does he really need 'uppercut action'? Lol.

Y'know...I was kinda glad it took so long for the Animated figures to be released 'cause I wasn't really sure if I wanted to get into them.....now after seeing this....wow. It's sad. So many damn problems. I don't have time to fix the toy companies' screw-ups. Maybe I won't get the Animated figures after all...sheesh!

These things always happen. First thing I do when I get a new TF is checking what extra trimming is needed. Actually, I consider it part of the fun of getting a new toy.

so lets talk about how I opened my Animated Blackaracnia and her right leg ball joint was CRACKED.....the leg simply just fell off as soon as I took it out of the package......wow....just...wow

QUESTION:

What is the preference for Ball-joint tightening?

Personally I use Nail Polish. But when a master like Jin suggests a method that I have found to be unreliable and DANGEROUS, such as Super Glue, with out even giving the other option - I am inclined to think that maybe I am doing it wrong.

Thanks Jin for all your help!
