Biggest Transformers toy flop of 2007?

Recommended Posts

I love Blackout. Despite that I hate partformers, I can forgive Blackout because he's just SO kickass without his backpack. He's so damn pose able and always looks awesome when he's doing it.

Porcascops is awesome, too. Not because of the robot mode but because of the Scorpion mode and the Dragon modes. Remy found one of them. The other is a four legged on with the neck/tail rotated 360 so he can look straight ahead.

Dreadwing is awesome, too. His jet mode is pure orgasm and though his 'bot mode is unforgivable at first, it grew on me. I think the only bad thing about him really is his lack of elbows. Other than that he's fine.

I don't think I really bought any flops this year, though. I was pretty good about guessing which ones rocked and which ones sucked. I will admit Payload was a bit disappointing, not because of the plunger, I had already braced myself for that, but because of his Blot plastic.

The only REAL problem I had with any TF was Brawl's arms which I subsequently fixed.

WAIT. I forgot one TF: Classics Skyfire/Jetfire. His transformation was FAR too simplistic and the fact that his arms were so Powerglideing obvious in jet mode pissed me off. At least Movie screamer's arms don't look QUITE like arms. I love the figure, but he DOES piss me off.

I mean, 76 Bumblebee has the awesome shoulder/handheld cannons, and those aren't EXACTLY screen-accurate.

Yeah, they are - although Bumblebee only ever used his shoulder missile launchers in his 08 form, not his 70s form... but he did have them so it's not completely inaccurate.

Barricade could've gotten his blade-wheel thing. ANYTHING really.

I agree. I would've preferred that blade-wheel weapon to come out of his chest instead of Frenzy. :/

One word.. Payload

For me it was Blackout. One of the shoulder tab broke the first time I TFed him... the only toy I have ever returned to the store. Jazz and his arms comes in a close second, but I like his short look, in a small but fiesty kind of way.

Eric

how can you call any of the rest a flop considering it's always sold out....

yeah i'm not in any hurry to get any of the movie figures right now, i've found most of them to be less than satisfying but damn.... how do you say something that keeps selling out is a flop?

So my question to you all is this:

Which TF toy from 2007 was the biggest flop for you? Was there a particular figure that you were REALLY looking forward to and when you got it, you kind of thought to yourself "Why did I buy this P.O.S.?"?

ok, by those rules i'd have to say any movie figure that appeared in the movie has been a flop. dropkick and longarm are awesome but other movie figures have been crap... especially barricade and his kung-fu grip arms

I'd say the biggest flops were the figures that showed promise, but Hasbro and/or other parties simply failed to distribute or otherwise screwed over. MP Walscream should've been THE Transformer of the year, but to date has only appeared in a handful of Wal-Mart stores nationwide - totally botched. The same goes for SDCC Rodimus - the final Alt, and one of the best, but almost impossible to get without going through a third party.

Then there were the Titaniums - WW Megs and G1 Ultra Magnus were two of the best, but I don't know of anyone who managed to find them at retail, Magnus especially (since Megs also came in the 2-pack, which I also never saw).

Then there were the Titanium repaints - Sunstorm, WW Magnus, and SDCC Menasor - which were completely pointless. There was no excuse for making Sunstorm instead of Skywarp, WW Magnus looked nothing like WW Magnus (and why did there need to be two Magni released simultaneously?), and "Menasor" was just WTF all around. I still see stores trying to get rid of those things.

Eh, I like the inclusion of Frenzy. It was a nice touch.

Instead I would have liked to have seen his two back wheels, the ones that end up by his hands in robot mode, detach and combine to form his blade-wheel thing.

Deluxe Barricade

Deluxe Jazz

Leader Megatron

Surprisingly enough, when I found my Titanium G1 Magnus, it was on the shelf alongside 3 others (which was amazing, because restocks on Titaniums flew off the shelves in many places here), and 3 WW Megs.

Of course, the downside to being a Canadian Tfan is that we don't get U.S. exclusives, so I'm gonna have to resort to eBay for it.
