TFans' Official 'Transformers Movie' Thread

Recommended Posts

Do you really think that what you saw in beast machines could hold up within the frames of live action photography? It's going to have to be WAY better than that. Think ILM, PIXAR, LOTR, quality+

beast wars machines was made 6 years ago, technology moves very quickly in that business so i think they will be well up to the task

Well, Beast Machines (the series first mentioned as being good enough for the upcoming movie) is actually only a little over 4 years old (ended May/June 2000). "Toy Story 2" came out a little eariler than that (1999).

The animation, 3D effects, and physics, although different, were far better in Pixar's work than in Beast Machines. About a year later Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was released, which to me was head and shoulders above them both (except the people's hands, nobody seems to be able to get them right).

Since Beast Machines, Mainframe has done Max Steel, 3 Barbie movies, and the logos for MTV's 2003 Movie Awards - WOW! (!sarcasm alert!). All their other upcoming projects are very cartoony. This movie needs an effects/post house that has successfuly merged 3D CGI with live action shots on a grand scale, and Mainframe is simply not experienced enough with this to do it, especially on a project this big. That is why they are wrong for the job and also why they certainly won't get it.

(I didn't mean for this to sound like an attack at you Storm. It ceratinly is not. I am just backing up my previous statement)

Besides, based on Don Murphy's posts, he wasn't too impressed with the Beast Wars/Beast Machines franchises anyway, so I doubt he would want his movie connected with those responsible.

To paraphrase the post I'm referencing, he stated that we won't have a movie with transforming "beasts and dinos and s**t." I believe those were his exact words... which I took as meaning anything based on the Beast Wars/Beast Machines shows. Just a hunch, don't bother attacking me for this post.

I don't like the Beast Wars/Beast Machines stuff either though, so feel free to attack me for that. :)

I think he just likes the idea of cars and planes better for Transformers, which removes any possiblity of seeing the Dinobots or any of the beast-mode Cassetticons (such as Laserbeak and Ravage). However, Grimlock is such a well-loved character I think they might still use him, but if they do his alt-mode will be some kind of machine and not a T-rex.

Well if there is to be A Grimlock in the movie I think we will probably see the "begining of" grimlock maybe a screenshot where he is nothing more than an endo-skeleton. this would leave room for an inevetable sequal. with a movie this big there would have to ba a sequal. I can't picture the Dino-bots being in the first one at all.

Hmmm...check this out. And if someone beat me to it, all the more better for you.

Good work Nancy Drew :thumb Well I gotta say with Spielburg being involved really makes wonder if this movie will be any good. It will probably be like jurassic park or somethin.

Spielberg does have that 80's, "anything is possible" element to all his works (soemthing that made "Jurassic Park" fantastic). He makes you feel like a kid again, which is how I feel when I watch the first TF Movie. Spielberg instills confidence in me...Rogers does not. I pray that I'll be proven wrong.

well having memeories about hoe cool things were when your were young is great, but i personally want to seean adult TF movie. I understand that the studio wants to make money and apperal to all agesand i think that kinda sux. We are grown ups now and WE are making the money. I dont know of any kids that are into TFs like I was when I was a kid. they all into Power Rangers and, and Zoids. Maybe he could do a good job but he has to realize that this movie is one of the most importrant movies ever to be made due to such a large fan base. I would LUV to see Ronnie Yu direct this movie, he did such a great job with Freddy Vs. Jason.

I also read that tom hanks my get involved, if that does happen i will los all interest and anticipation for wanting to see this movie.

It's not about memories of how things were, it's about Spielberg inserting an ageless form of wonderment into all his movies. You're not going to get a dark R-rated transformers movie, and your not going to get a G-rated Tranformers-pokemon-like flick either. No matter who does it, it will have to be in the middle.

I'm really surprised at a lot of people' repsonses to certain possible talent. People are worried about Spielberg and Hanks, arguably the best director and actor of the last half-century, but you would be psyched over the director from "Freddy vs. Jason"? I'm trying not to attack personal tastes here, but surely you realize that nothing (direction, writing, art design, special effects, acting, etc...) from "Freddy vs. Jason" or like films is even remotely in Spielberg's ballpark. You know the first thing you learn in film school...learn to separate what you like (personal tastes) from what is good (general high quality). You know what, I'm sure I won't like "Ray", but I'm just as sure that it's one of the best movies of the year, and most people will like it. If you're expecting, anticipating even, "Freddy vs. Jason" quality, then I'm sure I won't be going to see Transformers.

youe right I is all about personal tastes, i'm sure i'll love Ray,, and I think Scarface is a horrible movie" that's sacrrelige" eh oh well. bottom line is that the TF movie needs to be PG-13 nothing more, nothing less. I looked foward to Aliens Vs. predator for ten years and when it came out i was "what the hell was that ?" it was a major dissapointment.I COULD'VE MADE A BETTER MOVIE. so when tf comes out im sure that it will probablybe a dissapointment too.
