TFans' Official 'Transformers Movie' Thread

Just wanna blow off a bit of steam here:

Now have all you guys and gals looked around at some stuff people are saying about the movie and what they want. I respect everyone's opinions, they have the right to them as I have mine. I'm not here to say people are dumb or ignorant or idiotic. But have any of you looked at what has been said about this movie...to illuminate what I'm talking about ---

Some say they want a completely "period-piece" of 1984 and most want the size-changing/mass-matter converting. I mean I love G1 (it's my fav thing of TF). But come on, we can't have this movie be like this. I mean, seriously if they do a G1-Based story...it needs a heavy revamp and needs to be modernized.

The G1 Continuity is screwy and inconsistent at best. Don't get me wrong I love it, but why make a new TF movie completely held down by the chains of bad-writing and/or old stories.

A Good solid plot based within the realm of TF's coming to Earth, awakening or not and then assuming Earth-Based Technology. They need to explain how TF's learned English, Japanese, and all the other languages of Earth. I hope they make it so Teletran-1 scans Humans the world-over to learn and understand their speech and way of life and that Humans fear and hate what they don't understand --- gives a perfect reason for Teletran-1 to give the TF's new alternate modes based on disguising. Now does this mean it has to happen the way I want it...NEVER, this is just an example of explaining a major plot-hole in the original cartoon-based series.

Some want it to be a rehash of TF:TM, now...come on, seriously, WHY??? There is no friggin' reason for that. Why remake an animated movie that is perfectly fine into a Live-Action/CGI movie? Makes no sense.

I just can't understand why people won't get away from the "G1-Purist" thoughts. So what if Hot Shot is in it? Would it make it any less of a movie? I seriously doubt it! I just think we need to let our bonds of purist-thoughts go and let Murphy and his team just try hard to do the Universe of Transformers justice. So what if it doesn't have ALL the top 10 TF's you want, but only 3 or 4 of them? Is that such a ground-shattering thing? I hope not. So what if Soundwave isn't a tape player or a cd player, whatever...will I be sad IF he isn't in the movie...yes, but if the rest of the characters shine through, then whatever.

I have my list of characters I want in the movie, will they all make it in? More than likely not....but I'll still enjoy the movie as long as Prime is essentially Prime and Megs is essentially Megs and the Autobot and Decepticon Causes are strong and well-rounded. I just hope people try to understand this movie will not be exactly how you all want it. And I'm sure you do. It just seems to me sometimes a lot of people take what they want into consideration so much they don't care to see how many compromises must be made. Again, I may piss some people off, but I'm not saying people aren't intitled to their respective opinions, they are. I just get tired of hearing the rants on it has to be exactly like the Original, it has to include this Character or that Sub-Plot. I just hope we get a decent TF movie that's core is set in a rich and beloved fandom ideal.

Go ahead, let the flaming begin, I don't care...just felt like I needed to say it.

Well said and thought-out, man. No flaming from this 'bot. :thumb

Most definitely well said. So long as the movie has Prime and Megs with their original voices, I'm going to watch the movie several hundred times, and that's BEFORE video release. I'm just going to camp out in the theater's lobby.

But one thing I really would like, is for this movie to have at LEAST a PG-13 rating. This movie has to be dark. Really dark. So dark, it's kinda hard to see anything except for glowing optics. And DEFINITELY lots of oil. A ton of it. The floors must be slick with Hershey's Syrup!

But if we're going to kill anyone off for dramatic effect, then it must be a lame character. Huffer qualifies. I wouldn't mind seeing him get thrashed by a Sharkticon right before his head is removed from his body in an unfriendly way. Whiney dork.

j/k. I'm just messing with you. Your opinion has been noted and respected from this purist. :thumb

dude, the decepticons are evil (look to the lyrics) all the cons want to do is rule eerything, the decepticons are basically a dictatorship rule on the principle of absolutism (one person in charge of every aspect of everything

While good and evil are in many cases a matter of perspective, i would say that the decepticons are definitely EVIL.

As for your point of view, Deathmarch: completely fine. perhaps it is time transformers were redefined for this generation in movie terms. This doesn't mean all of the G1 qualities have to go, but perhaps the best parts of it can remain, along with new material being carefully added as well.

Are you going to have to make me threadjack this with some of Rachsha's essays?

As long as the movie starts out with a cheesy themesong playing behind a gimmicky composite of each charachter from the movie transforming, with spacey graphics and flying faction symbols, and then they interrupt the movie every 7 minuites with a blackscreen that has a faction symbol spin while zooming from the horizon to fullframe and back again, I don't care what charachters are in the movie or who does thier voices.

Oh, and make sure that by the time we get to the fifth sequel, the movie is nothing but all the gimmick-bots from the toyline where even the original cartoon studios decided that it was way too lame to try and incorporate any of this into a cartoon. Headmasters, sparkabots, pretenders, etcetera... that should make it WAY better than Batman and Robin or Batman Forever. Oh, and by then, let's dub it all in Japanese, with english subtitles.

:tflaugh

Okay, seriously, I love G1 and wouldn't trade it for anything, but come on, people. Let them make the movie how they see fit. They are the professionals, after all. Just like with X-men, they realize that they have a rabid fanbase to please, along with making a movie that is also appealing enough to the masses to sell enough tickets to warrant sequels. Give them enough time, and you will see Beachcomber or the Junkions, but we have to get through the first few films. Sure, we'd all love to see all of our favorite charachters, but they have to start somewhere. I'm sure that by X-men 3 or 4 we'll be watching Gambit throw charged playing cards at Juggernaut, but we had to sit through Striker's episode first. Same with the Transformers movie. I personally like DW's approach with the G1 comic line, and wouldn't be surprised if the movie doesn't take from that more than anything. You never know, they may surprise all of us... who saw Nightcrawler opening the X-sequel by attempting to kill the president? Not me, but it was sure awesome to watch. LET THEM MAKE THIER MOVIE. Criticize thier choices AFTER they make them, if you must. At least then, those of us who aren't suffering from rectal-cranial insertion disorder will at least have one badass live action TF movie to watch. Hopefully with the cheesy themesong at the beginning.

GenerationZero.......NICE FREAKING SIG!!! LMAO!! ROFL!!!
