TFans' Official 'Transformers Movie' Thread

Recommended Posts

I have been thinking of what 7 Bots and Cons i would prefer to see on the screen and here is my list:

Autobots

-Optimus Prime - a semi truck (what else???)

-Iron Hide - a mini van or a dodge ram

-Jazz - a prosche carrera

-Bumblebee - a VW beetle

-WheeelJack - an italian race car

-Cliffjumper - a mini cooper

-Hound i a jeep wrangler or a military jeep

Decepticons

-Megatron - military type cannon, a larger version of the

M102 105mm Lightweight Towed Howitzer(large enough so

a standing decepticon (starscream maybe) can take

controls and blast puny Autobots)

-Starcream - an F15 fighter

-Soundwave - military communications vehicle (laserbeak as a sat dish?)

(Rumble and ravage as other components.)

-Thundercracker - an F15 fighter (duh)

-Skywarp - an F15 fighter (double duh!!)

-Blitzwing - an army tank, jet (sorry no astrotrain but he does not

scream military vehichle in either of his alt modes.)

I was thinking that the Ark will crash in a future site of a military base, thus when Teletran 1 reformats them it scans the vehichle and artilery it finds at the base. sounds similar to the oringinal i know, but it would be cool if it just kept the decepticon as war machines period. perhaps Megatron could be an old cannon which has been retired and is non commisioned you know like when you see an old military vehicle out in front of a building or something. i know alot of people are calling for him to be a tank, but personally, i never really accepted him as a tank. Blitzwing was a tank. Bludgeon was a tank. hell even Warpath was a tank, when i think megatron, i think of a gun or something similar. and since he wont be a hand cannon, then why not a real cannon, not some gay colored orange and purple galvatron space cannon, but a silver(grayish) and black militarylike cannon but on a larger scale. he can transform and have starscream take control and start blasting away. keeps some of the older gimmick from the original series where someone would physically take megatron and start firing. just think of the possibilities. megatron as a tank is just boring.

Autobots should stay as civilain vehichles. that way it more or less keeps up with the mythos of the decepticon being war machines and autobots being scienetists and engineers. i would rather see hound as an army jeep though.

what do you think???

this is what megatron for the up coming movie should look like

My biggest problem with Megs as a gun isn't the size issue or anything, but the idea that Megatron, this ruthlessly evil robot would CHOOSE to change into an item that was dependent on one of his soldiers to function.

That liability takes away from Megatron as a form of authority and would, I suspect, cause a lot of non-Transfan audience members to scratch their heads...why does the leader need that guy for him to work...and why choose the most trechorous of his Decepticons to work him in that other mode...why doesn't he just stay in his robot form?

I know I've asked myself these same questions a hundred times or more.

The best answer I've come up with is because it's a children's show that had to combine pre-existing toylines into one story, and I should just get over it...but the live action movie will be for more than just for children, and for more than just us fans, and there's no need to hold on to principals of G1 that just don't make sense.

A tank may sound kind of boring and been-there-done-that to some fans, but aside from thinking up some brand new mode (like experimental gun or top-secret hover plasma rifle or any of the other suggestions I've heard on the boards) it makes the most sense. It's mobile, it's powerful, and it (working under the premise that Autobots can drive themselves) doesn't need someone else to work it.

My issue with "inventing" a new alternate mode, like a plasma rifle, for Megatron is that you've only got two hours to tell this story about giant living robots from space, and the introduction of a non-existant Earth-item clogs up the already finite story-telling time.

Putting in unneeded story points so that some twenty-something guys might like a toy better (or whatever the objections against the tank mode may be) is just going to lead to a worse movie. I'd be fine with them all turning into lawn gnomes if that's what it took for the story to work.

Ask yourself these questions, and I'd really like some answers here from those against the tank Megatron:

1) If you were an evil living robot from space fighting your sworn enemies and you didn't give a rat's @$$ about some twenty year old children's entertainment and you got to pick any object on the planet Earth to change into, what would you pick from a strategical standpoint?

2) And, if you, for some reason, got stuck with an alternate form that didn't really suit your needs, would you bother transforming at all?

Be honest.

A possible idea: how about a cannon like Galvatron? (probably already mentioned, but what the hell?)

i've said this in another post, Megatron will be a super soaker . A gun , yes, but safe for the kiddies.

on a serious note though, I would like the movie to start with the great war on cybertron, with Ultra magnus and prime comanding troups and you'll see cup and everyone. Then Prime and his seven soldiers ship out looking for a planet with energy with the decepticons following, then crashing on earth and so forth. No way to communicate with Cybertron. They spend the movie trying to get back to cybertron and fighting off the decepicons and all that. End of movie, they get back to cybertron to find the war going on and everyone stopping to see Unicron in the background eating planets. Prime and megs are like holy !@^& and say some cheesy line. end movie. set up for sequel. hopefully.

Wow, that'd be original.

Originality: a dying quality in the world of Transformers. It's ironic, considering that the transformers themselves were an original idea in the US about 20 years ago.

Skydive, I hope that was sarcasm. I don't think you can avoid having a plot similar to that. If they make it so It's like Short Circuit 3 with a 12 year old making an optimus prime for a science project and him coming to life, how many TF fans would be upset? You have to stick to the roots. There is no other way to explain the transformers. they fought on cybertron, crashed on earth, fought more, returned to cybertron, took their heads off (or in the head master dubs I got, renamed blurr wally and blaster billy and , and ... whats up with really?) ...

actually how many of you out there would like to see:

1) a more in-depth, detailed, exciting explanation of the transformers that foloows the original story some 20 years ago.

2) or a whole new crisp story that has a better explaination than humaniod robots crashing on earth out of the blue.

what would you guys rather?

I'll go with 1 largely, but a retelling that has whole new elements weaved intelligently into it.

Blah!! No more frickin' retreads!!! New story!! New story!!! They don't pay people in Hollywood to produce recycled, stale crap!!

Well okay, yes they do, but they shouldn't. :redface
