TFans' Official 'Transformers Movie' Thread

Recommended Posts

Arcee (there's gotta be a female bot or else female audiences won't be interested ...)

Oh give me a break.

First and foremost: ***ROBOTS*** in disguise. Why make a female robot or bother making a robot with boobs?

That's one thing that NO ONE has ever answered: Why the TF's must look so humanoid...

Why not a basic TF that transforms into an 8-legged robot with no discernable head?

And what do they have to disguise themselves for? I mean, the original Ark stated they disguised to look like the "nativeS" of the planet, mistakenly discerned as the metal cars and planes around town.

That's another thing that bothers me: the recent Micromaster series; everyone is named in English after some sort of car-related incident, and everyone transforms into earth-based cars; and they've NEVER BEEN TO EARTH (as far as I know)!

Crap. Me posting this proves I'm now too old for TFs. Damn.

Why do TFs look so humanoid? Simple. It would appeal to people more. We know the trend these days is that products that look more "human" appeal more to consumers. That's why computers and cars are designed with more curves now since the human body is curved as well. I do not think Transformers would have been as appealing as they were if they looked like freaky inhuman and grotesque creations. For example, some of the least-liked toys in G1 was Ironhide and Ratchet, since they don't look humanoid at all. I don't think a lot of people complained when they decided to make them look more human in the cartoon. A lot of TFans also liked TFs with bot modes that are well-proportioned. The only "inhuman" robot in my opinion who has gained worldwide appeal is R2-D2.

And regarding the English names, earth-based cars and other stuff, the same reason too. To appeal to the fans and find it easy to relate with the characters. There are many things in Transformers, heck even the concept alone of sentient robots transforming into vehicles or beasts, are pretty unbelievable, and we have to suspend our disbelief to have fun with them.

Regarding the movie, my line-up would be:

Autobots - Optimus Prime, Meister (since Jazz can't be used), Prowl, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. I would love to add Superion too, since I want the movie to borrow concepts from the first Dreamwave TF story arc like the combiner battle.

Decepticon - Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Devastator or Bruticus (I think one combiner is enough for a single movie and save the other for a sequel). I would postpone Shockwave's appearance to that of the sequel (if there ever will be) and have storyline similar to G1 Vol.2 of Dreamwave.

I like the suggestion to provide the seekers with different forms and alt modes, but make them jets or bombers of different kinds.

The Micromasters got there forms from Victersigma.

The TFs are humanoid becuse in the tf world almost all alieans are humanoid and the Quints prolly thought that Hmanoid robots would apeal more.

As for fembots Arcee was built to please feminist in the comics. In the toon the Fembots were prolly built as nannys, Maids, and Cooks by the Quints and they were contuinued becuse the Male type Tfs were lonly and wanted compainionship.

Well, my dream team for the movie would be:

Autobots: Prime (blah, blah, blah), Mirage (imagine his "where is Waldo?" tricks on the big screen), Wheeljack (because "brainbots" rule), Jazz (I don't care if he'll be callled Meister or anything, just give me ol' Jazz), Trailbreaker (I like this guy and his forcefield can be useful), Prowl (you're under arrest! :P ), Sideswipe and Sunstreaker (cause someone has to do the beating).

Decepticons: Megatron (a TANK baby, a TANK! Woo-hoo!), Starscream (the fastest jet around), Skywarp (but this time let him teleport without the necessity to ask Megs for permission - Bots gonna have real hell trying to hit him), Shockwave (let him visit Earth like in comics - and let's give him another tank mode), Soundwave (but i can't imagine him as something anything diffrent from cassette player, it is going to be complicated), Devastator (or any other gestalt - just to warm thigs up), and billion of generic Seekers as the meat fodder. :)

No Fembots, no Wheelie, some Bumblebee (I'm sentimental), lots of cameos, and Mostow for a director (Emmerich KILLED Godzilla! Anyone but him!).

:pfx, i think the first film should be based on more than meets the eye and the second one maybe on the creation of the dinobots

i think it should be totaly based on dreamwaves g1 vol1 humans trying to control the transformers for war (iraq) fits perfectly :pfx

i don't want to see Jazz/Meister in the movie, i'm sorry hate me for this if you want but Jazz/Meister just isn't Jazz/Meister if scat cat isn't doing the voice, who else could do jazz/meister and make it good? Eddie Murphy, Cris Rock, Eddie Griffin, Cris Tucker, Mike Epps, Cedrick the Entertainer, Bernie Mac, Don DC Curry, Bruce Bruce, Stevy Harvey, D.L. Hugly? no i'll have no jazz please.

well just hope they dont decide to have mically caulken (mispelled) as the voice if jazz was on there. well actually it could be worse, they could have Michael Jackson as one of the voice actors...... his quotes: "any boys wanna ride?", "so u know how to drive a stick huh lil boy?", "if i happen to fall on u lil boy its b'cuz of my new body" :rofl :puke

One thing you're forgetting is that Scatman Crothers was also an old guy when he did the voice. I think that helped to avoid some of the more obnoxious "Chris Tucker" kind of stuff. Scatman was too old to be "trendy" if you know what I mean -- he was just laid back and cool. So I think a replacement voice for him (come on -- are they NOT gonna put him in the movie just because the original G1 voice actor is no longer available? What about Starscream? etc.) should be a more mature guy.

Yeah but who is laid back and cool enough to replace scatman?

Yeah but who is laid back and cool enough to replace scatman?

I don't disagree. I think that's going to be one of the hardest things in this whole production -- specifically, what to do about voice talent. So many of the voice actors who did the G1 show defined their characters (not just Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, but Dan Gilvezan, Neil Ross, Michael Bell, Chris Latta, Corey Burton, and so on). If they decide to use the same actors that did G1, it's just going to make characters like Jazz or Starscream (for instance) seem that much more different, because they'd have to be done by someone else. But if they don't use the G1 actors, it's probably going to feel different to G1 fans anyway.

Then again, they may not be interested in a strict G1 remake. I know that's the universe they're using here, but from comments at OTFCC it sounds to me like they might be bringing in certain elements of other series. So in that case, would it be out of the question for them to use Garry Chalk and David Kaye...? I don't know.

I'm just glad that what I've seen so far indicates that they are NOT interested in the "celebrity voice-over" thing. Thank goodness.
