Jazz's return

Recommended Posts

The Rude Awakening of Optimus Prime evidences that Prime considers Blaster his second-in-command.

At least over Hot Rod or Wheelie.

Though I love that. I'm not quite sure I'm ready to cite it as cannon. Besides I thought Prime just wanted to hang with Blaster because he was one of his boyz back in the day, as opposed to the G1.5 rejects around him.

I vote Prowl and Grimlock, they should do the Spock & Bones "I hate you" bit all the time.

WELL IT'S PART OF MY PERSONAL CANON, DAMMIT.

Hm. So what should Soundwave and Blaster's alt modes be then?

Because honestly, they can't be tape decks. Between the lack of mass-shifting and the fact we had a boombox already, it's not really an option.

I kinda think Soundwave could be an AWAC plane, but that would make him tower over the other transformers. Possibly some kind of communications vehicle, like his War Within incarnation?

Wel, it has already been stated in interviews and discussions that the "no mass shifting" rule only applied to the first movie because it was too much to put in to a single movei in the limited amount of time without the risk of destroying suspension of diselief. That is why Soundwave wasn't used in the first movie. They wanted to do him right, and couldn't in the first movie.

Awww, CHRIST!!!

The only thing that could have made that lackluster movie dumber would have been MAGIC SHRINKY. The Cube compression was lame enough.

And by "do soundwave right" the meant giving him a real character and not the comedy bit that Frenzy was. It had nothing to do with magic shinky. Now that they've done a boombox TF that DIDN'T magic shrinky, what the hell will Soundwave shrink into? A toy surveillance van? WTF? Frenzy answered this. It's over.

as much as i like Jazz as a character, i say leave him dead and bring in someone else to fill his void like Blaster. Besides, we all know its almost a given that Soundwave will be in the sequel, might as well have his boombox counterpart.

I'm not trying to imply you meant it this way, but what "void" is it that Blaster could fill?

Token ostensibly black Autobot?

Jazz's role was second in command. Wouldn't he be better replaced with Grimlock or Prowl?

(1000th Post. Whoo Hoo.)

come on now, we all know that Jazz was the token black guy who gets killed. and knowing hollywood, yeah blaster would fill that void perfectly. i could see it now, he sacrifices himself to kill sondwave and save the rest of the autobots!

though it was said in the movie and everyone likes to point it out, how much "second commanding" did Jazz actually do? in my opinion, Ironhide had more of a leadership presence than Jazz, trigger happy and all. just cause he was "second in command" does not escape the fact that he was just a stereotype and a throwaway knee-grow character. i just won't be surprised if Blaster or another character who may have "black" characteristics is thrown in there to make up for the absence of Jazz.

That kind of "logic" (shudder)... is actually spot on for this movie. Which is why its SO LAME!!!

I'm sorry I couldn't help it.

Well, I am not going to argue the issue of whether it's a good idea or not. Just because Frenzy was a boombox doesn't mean Soundwave can't be a larger one as well. I'm just stating the reasons why he wasn't in the first movie, and both Hasbro and Don Murphy have stated when he does make his appearance, it would be as a stereosystem with Mass conversion. However, this discussion is about Jazz, not Soundwave, so let's end it at that please.

Ladies and gentlemen, we've stepped in a turd again.

From what Bay has said, I don't think Don Murphy will be able to get a cup of coffee on the set of the sequel. Much less dictate Soundwave's alt mode or any magic shrinky.

yes, and where is said interview? i'd think that if this actually existed that we'd have heard about it by now, remember any douche can edit a wiki article

Actually, I have read the interview in question. It does exist, though trying to find it again is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Cool. So this isn't just something someone wanted to put on there. Maybe Jazz will come back.

Possibly cause of said theories that he's not truly dead, but just really damaged. Maybe the Autobots have now made the Hoover Dam their hideout since it's no longer home to Sector Seven. And it's big enough to hold them since it was built to hold Megatron and built around the Cube. So maybe Jazz in in some type of rigged up medical machine (for in the time from the movie's ending to the sequel, the Autobots could have brought down gear from the Ark from wherever they parked it in space (yes, the Ark does exist in the movie -verse, as proven by the novel which is the prequel novel to the film, and so does the Nemesis for that matter). Brought gear includes medical stuff, weapon supplies, and other essentials that Earth can't provide.

i wouldn't put too much stake in the prequel novel

as for the article, i'm sure they havn't even started writing the script yet so it could just be writers talking. not to mention that ratchet and prime said he was dead.
