Jazz's return

these are some good points-- (my only transformers knowledge is from this movie), so what DOES define when a robot is "dead"??? seems like being ripped in two could be a minor thing for a robot

The only way to truly kill a TF is by destroying their Spark. Heavily Damaging them can lead to their Spark dying. Heavy Trauma can totally kill a TF, since the Spark is sensitive to internal organ damage and shut down. Going to Stasis Lock (like a super-form of sleeping) can help them to last longer while damaged.

Well the "spark" thing they mentioned (Optimus opened his chest at one point and showed his "spark chamber") is essentially a Transformers soul/lifeforce, if it's destroyed the Transformer dies.

I noticed, particularly with Brawlastator and Blackout, that when a movie TF took a hit directly into its chest there appeared to be a sort of fluorescent energy that spilled out, which perhaps was supposed to represent death via rupture of the spark chamber.

Basically, Ratchet, the medic, saying "We couldn't save him" = dead jazz. He ain't coming back.

as much as i like Jazz as a character, i say leave him dead and bring in someone else to fill his void like Blaster. Besides, we all know its almost a given that Soundwave will be in the sequel, might as well have his boombox counterpart.

yes, and where is said interview? i'd think that if this actually existed that we'd have heard about it by now, remember any douche can edit a wiki article

Actually, I have read the interview in question. It does exist, though trying to find it again is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Hm. So what should Soundwave and Blaster's alt modes be then?

Because honestly, they can't be tape decks. Between the lack of mass-shifting and the fact we had a boombox already, it's not really an option.

I kinda think Soundwave could be an AWAC plane, but that would make him tower over the other transformers. Possibly some kind of communications vehicle, like his War Within incarnation?

I'm not trying to imply you meant it this way, but what "void" is it that Blaster could fill?

Token ostensibly black Autobot?

Jazz's role was second in command. Wouldn't he be better replaced with Grimlock or Prowl?

(1000th Post. Whoo Hoo.)

The Rude Awakening of Optimus Prime evidences that Prime considers Blaster his second-in-command.

At least over Hot Rod or Wheelie.

*votes Prowl*

Wel, it has already been stated in interviews and discussions that the "no mass shifting" rule only applied to the first movie because it was too much to put in to a single movei in the limited amount of time without the risk of destroying suspension of diselief. That is why Soundwave wasn't used in the first movie. They wanted to do him right, and couldn't in the first movie.
