  3. There is NO POINT for me to answer a question that you are trying to use to help fuel your own desire/fire for Mass-Shifting Soundwave. You have your reasons and are sticking to your guns. You can not ask me to suddenly come up with a way to agree with you. This is NOT debate class - these are our real opinions. Some of us don't like mass-shifting period, or in my case - I DON'T see a need for it to be done. I'm not going to try to come up with a way to agree with you, when I don't see a need for it to begin with. That is all.
  4. But the point is that we (the naysayers) DON'T need a mass-shifting Soundwave that is a Stereo/Electronic Device/System to be Soundwave, nor does he need to be a mass-shifting stereo to do his function/job and have minions. It's not that we can't come up with a mass-shifting Soundwave that works in the movie - it's that we don't think there needs to be a mass-shifting Soundwave in the movie. - At least I know I don't, and from the response so do lots of others here. As long as he has Soundwave's persona and maybe a cool effects-ish voice, I don't really have to have Soundwave be a Stereo,
  5. First - I NEVER ONCE said you couldn't use whoever you choose to. But this whole discussion has been about Soundwave - hence I kept using Soundwave, since he is the G1 Mass-Shifter that matters most. Second - A van, that is closed up, windowless (like Blot said) and is just a van sitting in a parking lot, is NOT something a regular joe walking through the lot will look at and inspect to see if its as real as the two-door sedan parked 5 spaces down from him. Third - I'm sure you are aware that they could have expanded the then called Soundwave's character a lot more, kept him in the sto
  6. No, it isn't meaningless. IF you intend to use the character, and do him right, it is not meaningless because no other type of alternate mode really fits someone named Soundwave. Think about it. What type of device pops into your head when you think of sound? For me it's a stereo. It isn't a car. It isn't a truck, it isn't a helocopter. It is something specifically designed for producing sounds. That is where Soundwave got his name. Why change that? If you don't want to use that alternate mode, don't use the character or that name. I hope you realize he can still be called Soundwave by hav
  7. If Soundwave has this advanced communications system throughout his body with monitors, recording devices, speakers, and all that - then he can transmit/recieve info and messages wherever he is. And if he has said advanced communications system and is standing next to Megatron - then guess what? He just plays the damn message so Megatron can hear it. Why would that need to be explained to you Tramp? Also - if it's a visual recording, Soundwave could do multiple things - plug into a monitor (ala TFTM) or use a built in projector to project the images for others to see. It's not that hard. He wo
  8. Does a minivan fit the name Ironhide? Does a jet fit the name Starscream? Does a Porsche fit the name Cliffjumper? Does a robot stag beetle fit the name Bombshell? Why is Soundwave exempt from your own logic only when it suits you? You've changed your stories, your meanings, your reasons, and whatever else didn't "mean" whatever you wanted the first time you said them. I do not think of minivans when I think of things that really tough. I do not think of jets when I hear about stars. I do not think of porsches when I hear about a cliff that needs climbing I do not thing of bugs
  9. 10. I think Tramp may have had an overload against him. Tough and Steadfast though he may be.
  11. Let me ask you this, How would Soundwave display or play back those communucations? It is all well and good to be able to analize them, but if Megatron can't get them, what good is it? First Off - It's been established in EVERY TF Continuity/Storyline that each TF has a communcations system within their bodies - some like Prime have multiple parts and are spread out around their bodies. What would stop him from transmitting his info/relaying it to Megatron's personal communication system? If Soundwave's body was designed as such - he could do it, without having to have a Stereo Alt. Mode
  12. Well, let me put it to you this way. IF his alt mode wasn't designed to play back audio recordings, do you think he would even have those functions to begin with? NO! he wouldn't have thoise functions. Therefore, whether or not he transformed to play back those recordings, having that type of alt mode allows him to do so. Soundwave's very design is geared towards audio/visual communications and recording. His alternate mode—disguised as a tape deck—is designed for that purpose and is what gives him that ability. Updating him to a more modern design still means that he needs to be a por
  13. Because with Soundwave, part of what made him who he was is his ability to blend in anywhere by having an innocuous and ubiquitous alternate mode. Soundwave also can perform his function better by being a dedicatet device rather than havinghis internal systems divided to multiple functions iunrelated to his job. and a vehicle mode would not allow Megatron to hear or see the transmissions. He really could not perfom his function as well in another type of alternate mode. Megatron just requires heavy firepower. He actually performs his function better by having a different alternate mode than a
  14. Megatron being a gun does not fundamentally change him, no. Him not being a weapon does. By weapon, I mena a gun, a tank, a bomber, anything designed with heavy firepower in mind. It isn't just Soundwave's persona that mattered. And one of the things that was inherant to Soundwave, at least as Hasbro, Don Murphy and a lot of fans on other sites and at the various discussions, Mass conversion was one of them. That was because it made his alternate mode possible. It is a fundamental, defining part of Soundwave. You openingly admit Mass-Shifting was not fundamental on Megatron. But it was in
