And let's be honest: did Inferno really distinguish himself as a character in the G1 cartoon? Not to me he didn't. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that he got less screen time than any other '85 Autobot "car" -- other than Skids, of course. Ratchet, on the other hand, is an essential TF character, period.

Not to mention he was part of one of the most gruesome storylines ever in the comics - where he got fused with Megatron...

With this being a intro movie anyway, I wonder why there is a need for an ambulance turned firetruck character. Why not give us both, one now and one later? Hmmmm....why not just give us Inferno and just have Wheeljack put Autobots back together.

Cause I think it all comes down to what people might actually like to see. Some people wouldn't like the idea of a Mechanical Engineer being the Doctor/Surgeon.

 

I'm not saying I believe/want this...but It's a thought.

DM - If people want a Doctor/Surgeon working on a Autobots/Decepticons make, just make the character Ratchet. Yeah Inferno is a big red fire engine (which little boys love), but his character was never as cool as Ratchet's. Which is why alot of of import toy retailers still have a lot of Takara Infernos in stock.

 

Of course, maybe you are combining the ambulance/firefighter character so the alt. mode looks good in robot mode. I can see a normal ambulance being difficult to make into a cool robot.

It says 'minds'. It doesn't say that it was restricted to TFs. Also, in "Divide and Conquer" Soundwave does extract information from Chip's brain by direct contact.

I'd just like to add that anyone expecting John Waters to base the TF characters in this movie off the G1 tech specs is probably gonna be one sad little boy on Christmas morning.

Sigh. I seriously have to wonder why people are actually still debating this.

 

- The toys are FIBRIR.

- The Marvel comics use FIBRIR.

- The cartoon "bible" tells the cartoon crew to use FIBRIR.

- The Japanese dub of the cartoon supposedly uses FIBRIR.

- The Dreamwave comics use FIBRIR.

 

The cartoon crew screw it up by accidentally swapping the colors and deciding to carry on with this. I can't think offhand of any other instances where FIRRIB was actually used.

 

Therefore, insisting to follow the error version from the cartoon and Reflector constsing of three identical-looking robots who look nothing at all like Spectro, Viewfinder of Spyglass. Because, you know, it was in the show... :roll

Eh, this forum's exactly the same as donmurphy.net. People in this thread levelled criticism at us over there for waffling, yet browsing around these forums there's pages and pages of the same sota stuff. I mean 250 posts discussing what kind of car Alternator Prowl should be? (Which is already decided.) Wow, pots and kettles and all that. :D

Actually, that episode was not "Divide and Conquer." That episode was "Roll For It."

Ah well, I like the telepathy but think it should only work with robots anyway, so I wouldn't mind it being reduced.

Then why don't you take the attitude back to that board?

Soundwave being used to Manipulate the high levels of the Government, could be used as a good tactic.

Make the Autobots seem like they are the evil ones.
