Don Murphy update - movie SPOILERS

Recommended Posts

The only other idea I could see for a "matrix quest" concept to work would be that the Autobots didn't have a leader in the start of the show. Optimus was just another warrior leading a faction of troops. The matrix is the knowledge and power of previous leaders that's been stored awaiting a great warrior to assume leadership. For some reason in the earlier part of the movie, the matrix is in danger and is sent away for it's own protection as it is fragile.

After being lost for several thousand years, humans uncover it and tamper with it using it for (Insert imaginative concept here). The Autobots trace it to Earth pursued by Megatron and friends. Anywho, Optimus proves his worthyness to assume leadership and is made a Prime. ETC..............

Just a dumb fanboy idea, not to be taken seriously.

I love you Wikkid, but that is not realistic... but I still like it

Explain.

My point is it's more "real" than any other idea out there.

If you can prove there's no such thing as ghosts, then I'll believe it. If you can prove that the limits of the human brain are endless, then I'll accept that. AND if someone can "prove" without a reasonable doubt that there's no other life in the universe other than man, then it's possible.

Can you guys please not talk about that in this thread? Go to GD and make a topic on it there. This thread is about the Movie, not about proving that ghosts are real. Unless of course, you're talking about a TF ghost in the movie. My apologies if that is the case.

I'm just showing my ideas as to what I believe is "realistic" and "believable". Has nothing to do with god an stuff. My main point was that there may be a billion to 1 chance that robotic life exists in the universe created by whoever for whatever reason. Heck, humans are building robots nowadays, it's not so far fetched.

I wasn't referring to god or anything when I posted. Just that it doesn't seem relevant to the topic.

What NEW additions to the mythos do you think WOULD work on the big screen? Don's certainly interested to know what sort of stuff the fans want to see, he's said so often enough. We've discussed it plenty over at donmurphy.net but a fresh perspective is always interesting.

It may be just me, but I liked the original idea behind the G1 cartoon.

Cybertron, a dying world.

Two seperate factions fighting over what remains.

Quest for a new source of life-giving energy. (Cause without energon, they would all cease to function.)

A new world rich with energy found (Earth)

Inhabitants of Earth need sources for their own survival (imagine the change if suddenly we had no fossel fuels)

War between huge mechas ensues on Earth with humans in the middle of it.

I don't know about anyone else, but a battle on my doorstep between huge robot armies would be some scary sh*t. To me, this idea would hit home with most people as it's realistic.

Exactly. I said this before and I completely agree with you.

Has anyone that goes to Don's board regularly heard anything else about the Transformers coming to Earth because we (humans) have the matrix? This just seems like a cheesy idea to me. The search for Energon for a dying planet is way more plausible IMO.

None taken and point taken. Like I said, this has dragged on for a page or so about something entirely other than the movie. So, back on subject...

I dont really know, I think this movie is a great opportunity to tell the "Autobot Protoctors of Mankind" story.

The Autobots are the proctologists of mankind?? :eek

RUN!!!!

First off, I want to say one thing and that will be the end of that.

I would like to apologize for being an ass to anyone from Don's board. We are all Trans Fans so we should all be getting along. Nuttin' but love for all of you from Don's board or any other board for that matter. :luv I offer my humblest apology. I'm sorry.

Now back on topic, having the matrix on Earth and the Autobots having to find it so they can get a leader and having Prime just be a soldier at the beginning is plausible. I just think it steers a bit too far away from most of what all Trans Fans think of in terms of G1. I believe that Optimus Prime having the matrix already, and that the reason they wind up on Earth is because they had to look for energy or had to stop a threat to Cybertron and were attacked by the Decepticons while trying to do this is a much better explanation. Granted that is my opinion, but I'm sure many others share this opinion too.

I would think the best thing about the movie is being a voice actor for it. Of course, I never persued a career in it, thou I have done over 200 character voices before. Shame, it would be a nice to be in a Transformer movie. :tfsad

All I got is the Star Wars Bespin guard (green card) that looks like me, probably still sitting at a TRU near you! :tfevil

Yeah but (and I hate to say this) this isn't G1. I mean, it is and it isn't. I think if the story is going to be a new story worth telling, then it needs to be new. Not "all" new, but just new. Creative. I'm all for a different take on the G1 mythos, personally. I think it would just be a waste to spend all this money on a film that'd essentially be a MTMTE retread.

I think Don mentioned that there will be no "spark" in this forum or another. I was assuming that he was referring to the matrix, since the matrix cannot be called the matrix in the TF film.

Ah..............................

Okay that explains a lot.
