I'm more concerned about Jazz's voice myself.  The late Scatman Crothers had a one of a kind voice, and I'm not sure if anyone else can pull off Jazz's voice quite the same way.  Sure, you can get some random hip-hop star like Jay-Z or whoever to do it, but it just won't feel the same... :tfsad

Yeah, when I was a kid I always wondered why Jazz never spoke in Season 3. Then I found out that Scatman Crothers died in 1986 I believe. The guys in Maxim magazine had said something about him dying and that the voice of Hong Kong Phooey was gone. I was like Hong Kong Phooey? What are these guys smoking?!?!? He was Jazz. It was obvious that the Maxim guys are from the wrong era.

But yeah, getting a voice for Jazz will be dificult. Scatman left some hard shoes to fill.

Samuel L. Jackson

Sam would be a good fit. He was great in The Incredibles and awesome in Pulp Fiction.

If the Movie Jazz has some soulful phrases like Cartoon Jazz, that would be "Kool & the Gang."

I don't think any celebrity voices should be in this movie except for Casey Kasem.

Who can be counted out considering he quit over the whole 'Carbombya' thing.

Maybe someone could convince him. Him and Frank still work on Scooby Doo together. I really don't think there will be any bad Libya references referring to it as Car Bomb Ya in this movie. I always liked Casey's Teletran I voice and he did an excellent job on Bluestreak and especially Cliffjumper. People like him and Peter Cullen really have the talent and ability to make the robots alive and have character with their awesome voice acting. :thumb

scatman was also in the shining (the stanley kubrick one) not only was he good with his voices he was a good actor overall. to replace him will be harder than chris latta as michael Dobson is more than qualified to do starscream, wheeljack is another matter, the only possiblity of a close match is the person who did taranchulas in bw. (Jazz should be a rock star, not hip hop)

Actually Jazz shouldn't be a rock star either. You know, the guy's named "Jazz" and Scatman Crothers did his voice.... he talked like an old jazz guy from the 50's. As I've said before, if they're going to "update" his manner of speech accordingly, he should talk like George Clinton or Isaac Hayes or someone (i.e. 70's era funkster).

Of course, I'm not *suggesting* that; I'm just saying...

P.S. Diesel, the difference between David Kaye in BW/BM and Armada/Energon is simply the harsh reality of ADR. When you get to deliver your lines at your own pace, you get to actually "act" as opposed to just matching lip flaps as best you can.

P.P.S. Just wait until you hear Kaye's pitched-down voice in BM. :D

Off topic:

That is so awesome Madhammer. I was going to ask you about that. Sweet.

Isaac Hayes is too connected with "Chef" from South Park, but I get what you're saying. Scatman was awesome. The first thing I noticed when I first watched the Shining was the Scatman Crothers name in the opening credits for that movie. Yeah, Jazz isn't rock 'n roll, he's jazz. I think someone that isn't famous or well known would be able to pull it off. If you use someone famous it will cheapen the character. You will be thinking of Smauel L. or Isaac Hayes and not Jazz. Don has said on his board that he believes celebrities would be wrong for this movie and I agree 100%.

The guy that does the Zatarain comercials sort of sounds like Scatman, but I don't know how well he would be at doing a voice over for a movie.

Yeah. I know who you're talking about. That's a good idea Don. I would have never thought of that. I bet there are a lot of unknown guys like that, that would do a good Jazz voice.

Either of the two guys playing the bluesy intro on "Chapelle's Show" would be a good Jazz, I'd bet. :tflaugh

(I'm only half kidding... it might actually be a good idea.)

I was thinking about this the other day, and Isaac Hayes is probably the best voice I can think of offhand. Some rap star would just be wrong for the part, I think. Maybe for Blaster if he were to show up. Its just a thought, but what about Shaggy? Be something different, and he's not someone that anyone who hasnt been living in a cave should know about...

Or David Alan Grier's old blues guy from In Living Color:

"I got shot by a Decepticon! Wrote a song about it! Like to hear it? Here it goes:

Iiiiiiii gaaaaaaaaat shaaaaaaaaaaaat anmaranamnamaaa.... haaiiieeeeeeeee!!"
