Fantasy epics..Tolkien...Dear god, you ever READ Tolkien? I'd rather have my face ripped off by cenobites. If not for the fantastic movies(with their overlooked flaws), No one would give a rat's ass about Tolkien.

:cop EDITED FOR OVERLY OBNOXIOUS CONTENT :cop

BC, you may want to read these articles, if it isn't too painful for you to do so:

http://books.guardian.co.uk/departments/cl...,596137,00.html

Japanese, race human.

Oh and Tolkien's LotR stands on nr 2 behind the bible as most read book, already long before the movies. They are difficult on some points as Tolkien was not a professional writer and do not use normal accepted book writing laws. Hence they are really a pain in the ass for some to read, but for others way easier then other books.

Back to beastwars, yup, I do rate it as the funniest of all TF series I have ever seen. G1 (near to none), RID (some - Skybyte), Armada/Energon (barely).

I suppose you can cut off my sentences to make me appear a racist if you want, when my full statement was "The Japanese are simply SUPERIOR when it comes to their ability to produce, and create."

1. Japanese isn't a "race"...it's a culture and a nationality. Asian would be the race, sir.

D&D is pretty much at the forefront of loserisms, right next to Star Wars, Star Trek, and TRANSFORMERS.

Final Fantasy 8? That's my favorite of the series, surpassed only by FFX because of it's amazing graphics and *EPIC* progression.

rac·ism

n.

The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.

If you can find a more appropriate term for what you just wrote please provide it.

BACK ON TOPIC:

The humor on Beast Wars was very good. Maybe a bit too much at times. The bad guys were hillarious and never really seemed to be much of a threat because of that.

what RACE are Japanese People???

Agreed, Sorry S^2

Yes, BW is by far the best TF series. It was extremely well written, it appealed to all age groups (which eliminates all other TF shows - G1 was for people under 14, BM was for goth kids in high school and college, and the Japanese stuff was for under 6), it was excellently paced, the characters were thoroughly developed, it walked the fine line between innocuous and obscene (Yeah, scoutin' the enemy. Find any new positions?), it was deep without being pretensious (BM's biggest failing), it involved tremendous stakes while at the same time not being overly dramatic (again, a failing of BM, and oddly enough a failing of Armada too, a show that was a joke by any definition), and beyond being the best TF show, it had what many consider to be the greatest single episode of any action/adventure cartoon series; 'Code of Hero'.

It was amazing, it was ahead of its time, and I'm afraid we won't see the likes of it ever again in a TF series. I can't say I understand why that would be, the bulk of expense in the labor intensive drawing, so by all means keep that in the far East, but the actual writing only involves a handful of people, so regardless of how well they're paid, it's still negligible by the standards of a company like Hasbro. Megas XLR, Justice League, Exo Squad, Gargoyles, Batman TAS, etc - Western writing with Eastern drawing has a very good track record. But I'm still afraid that we won't see another well written TF series again.

Now, as to it not taking into account Japanese TF continuity, OF COURSE IT DIDN'T! Hell, that would be like George Lucas taking "A Very Wookie Christmas" into account when writing "Empire Strikes Back". If anything, Forward and Ditillio should be pissed that BW2 used a character they created (yeah, likeness and name belong to Haskara, but the CHARACTER was created by the BW writers). It was a blatent attempt to have the unspectacular BW2 piggy back off of BW's success, and all they managed to do was to cheapen BW.

Now, that said, I don't mean to rip on Japanese writers. But had Akira Kurosawa been a transfan, seeing the Gaijin put out a story like 'Code of Hero', and then seeing the crap his own countrymen put out would have killed him. Hell, given that he died in 1998, that probably was what killed him. Japan has produced some good storytellers, but Takara has yet to hire any of them.

Anyway, yes, BW is far an away the best series.

The humor of BW was great, but I actually like BM's story better. Much darker, post-apocalyptical.

I just like your description of Beast Machines' target demographic. :tflaugh

*pulls on black Doc Martens and touches up makeup*

I have my own opinions about BW, and this isn't a good place to vent 'em. So I just wanna ask this:

If BW had been cel-animated (hm, I guess at that time I'd say it would've been western-styled rather than anime), would you guys still love it?

Everyone talks about the writing, and I honestly haven't seen enough to form a full opinion on it. But I can't stand full CGI, and I realize I'm in the minority at the moment (how the @#$% is Shark Tales doing so well otherwise?) I have to wonder how much I'd be interested in it if it were traditional looking.

The CGI was interesting, especially since it was fairly new at the time, but it truly is the writing that sets BW apart. Once you start getting into the latter season 2 episodes, you'll be hooked.
