Beast Wars is the BEST!

Recommended Posts

Wow... this is one f##ked up thread. Love it... such drama!

ANYWAY, I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that Beast Wars was a superior show with regards to story and character development, which is either lacking somewhat in the Japanese series (not completely, of course) or was lost in the translation (which seems likely). CG or not, the people behind BW cared about the characters and the G1 story.

I also think it is pretty ignorant to say that the Japanese culture is better at creating... especially when we're talking about cartoons here. Are you taking into account centuries of art and literature as well?

I like your posts, BC, but COME ON!

I have my own opinions about BW, and this isn't a good place to vent 'em. So I just wanna ask this:

If BW had been cel-animated (hm, I guess at that time I'd say it would've been western-styled rather than anime), would you guys still love it?

Everyone talks about the writing, and I honestly haven't seen enough to form a full opinion on it. But I can't stand full CGI, and I realize I'm in the minority at the moment (how the @#$% is Shark Tales doing so well otherwise?) I have to wonder how much I'd be interested in it if it were traditional looking.

Dude I used to hate Beast Wars too. I couldn't stand the fact that Transformers turned into monkeys, T-Rexs, and such. I wanted no part of it, and I especially hated the CGI. I was a G1 person. Then I started to see how many people liked it, and I would listen to their opinions on it. I then read a little about the story line.

I have an open mind so I decided to get the Season 1 box set and make up my own mind. I freakin' love it!

Yeah, keeping an open mind is always a good idea.

I had the same hesitations as well, but if you sit down and give it a chance it really does deliver.

Agreed. :thumb It took me a while though. When it first came out I didn't like the idea, concept or anything. But after I found out how dark it was with no human involvement really. I wanted too see it.

Read my lips: No. Human. Involvement. Even those cheesy cavemen were better than Spike and Carly. (I'll let you Armada lovers draw your own conclusions about Rad, Carlos, and Alexis.)

I couldn't have said it better myself. That is one of the many reasons why Beast Wars is the best Transformer cartoons ever! Until Mainframe gets back with Transformers, they will not be a good Transformers cartoon.

I like Rad and Alexis..they were pivotal characters to the plot.

If any of you knew anything about Armada, the true story to it, then you'd appreciate them and what the writer was able to compile.

bearing in mind they made bm before 2000, their tech should now be even better than that and should possibly be considered for the tf movie.

I guess my only gripe about Beastwars was it ended way to quickly it seemed. I mean second season and third season blew right out the window.. how much did we learn about DinobotII, Tigerhawk and TM2 Cheetor? Not all that much. I felt that it had so much more life than to be cut short like it did. But I heard the folks in hasbro had a fire under Mainframe's hinny to finish BW so BM could come in.

BM was nice in some respects.. I think the only thing that I did not like is that the Maxies stopped being robots altogether.. which leads one to ask, 'what the hell are they?'
