I agree about the language. I had planned to go see it before I took my kids, but figured it would be like the first. Boy was I wrong. There was no need for all of the vulgarity. The action was nice, but some of the one liners, and dialogue was corny. I know it's an action film, and didn't expect much great acting. Was anyone else disappointed how quickly the fallen was defeated?

it was easier to kill the fallen - who is suppose to be mightier than megatron... than it was to kill the Terminator. Which one created more fear and hopelessness?? I mean seriously, how many explosions could megan fox jump thru without getting even a scratch on her? Watching Terminator, I would have given up or eaten a bullet myself. The fallen - a pure whimp. Devestator - given a face lift by ONE twin, and taken out with one shot. Was anyone in real terror of anyone?? I mean seriously, scorpnok created more fear and 'damn, we can't kill him' in the 1st movie than anyone in this one. Like I've said, this movie failed miserably in the ability to develope its characters and illicit real emotion. Most of the emotion was based on PRE-CONCEIVED feelings of characters that you know about from history -- not the movie itself. Take out the fight scene in the forest, and how do you feel about this movie??

:agree

Ugh don't get me started on the Fallen Bay's "badass" villain is more like a "badass" coward. The so-called creator of the decpticons and ultimate evil is no different than SS. If they had added more of his powers or had him do more instead of hiding from Prime on Saturn I think he would have been a decent villain.

I would have loved to see more epic battles all around. The forest was about the only battle that I feel was done well. Every other battle was just kinda ehhh.

What about Megs in g1? Wasn't it always him yelling "Decepticons retreat!" He wasn't exactly the model of bravery.

Now they could have better explained why the Fallen was where he was. By the looks of him, he was very old and was probably saving what power he could for one big battle. He probably needed the power of a new allspark to completely restore himself to 'prime' condition.

As for the issue for those who took kids not knowing enough about the language and humorous content, don't blame Bay. He didn't make the movie for kids or it would have been rated G.

There was plenty one could have read about the movie in advance to get an idea about what was in the movie. Not to mention the rating system is there for a reason. Ignorance is no excuse.

Besides, if you think kids these days aren't hearing those jokes and language on a daily basis anyway then you're kidding yourself!

I went and previewed it at midnight BEFORE i took my kids. After seeing it, I got a refund for the tickets the next day for my youngest daughter and mother in-law. It is not an issue of whether people are responsible to preview and not have their kids go. THE ISSUE was - did they need to do it and how much did it add to the movie. Listen, I laugh at 'some' of this also - i'm no prude. But the dog humping and robot humping added NOTHING. When you have to resort to potty humor like that - it shows a lack of genuine ability to produce comedy. Even the twins - the stereotype doesn't bother me at all. There were parts of the twins - i actually found funny (i'm gunna bust your face) - and other parts that were completely stupid. To be honest, I found the little blue remote control car to be quite funny. But the humping scenes, and the mom with weed browny scenes were jsut completely unnecessary. It's the difference from a movie being SNL funny - and being truely comedic funny that can reach all ages. It's not about being G rated. And making the excuse that kids hear this on a daily basis is a crap of an excuse. My kids do not.

G1 Megs was hilarious to me more like a nuisance than a villain, along with his "sidekick" SS. Then again it was a series so he had to call retreat for next week's show.

I agree with that, but I'm just saying that could have done a little bit more with the Fallen. :emo

Alright, I don't have enough time to weed through all the comments, but I'll address a few major issues a few of you seem to be having.

Prime has always been compassionate and forgiving but within the first 10 minutes of the film they show him blowing off a decepticons head. Even in the original movie/series prime believed everyone could change. He even was willing to allow megatron to live and in the first live action movie he was going to sacrifice himself instead of killing megatron.
In the first film, the war on earth had only "just begun" and he was willing to see if the 'Cons would change by trying to show him what he'd be hurting. After two years of Decepticon tyranny, wouldn't you be a little less willing to "let them off with a warning"? There's nothing that says Prime doesn't have his faults either. Megatron was once a Prime like him, but he got corrupted. Not that I'm saying OP did or will, I'm just saying he isn't a Jesus-like figure that has no problems and can never do any wrong, ever. He has a choice in all of his actions, just like any other sentient being. He "mercilessly" killed the 'Cons because he realized that he didn't have enough time, with the battling, and the "defenseless" humans everywhere, ripe for the slaughter, to reason with them. You don't see cops letting off serial killers with a waring, do you?

in the movie the Decepticons did not utter any cuss words as far as I recall but just about every other line with the Autobots was vulgarity or cussing. In fact I almost felt more like the Decepticons had better morals than the Autobots all around in this movie.
That's because the 'Bots adapted to the humans and the 'Cons didn't. Tell me you don't see that kind of vulgarity almost every time you go somewhere like, say, Wal-mart. The reason they have that kind of "language" is to seem to have more "in common" with the general [human] population. the 'Cons didn't have any of that as to differentiate themselves from humanity as much as possible.

As for the "racist" issue, the only reason you find that to be racist is because you see the way they talk and act, and think the only type of person that attitude can be associated with is Black people. Nothing said Jazz was black, nothing says the twins are black, you just assume that because, ironically, you're being racist and saying those traits can only be associated with whatever minority you find "appropriate".

All the Decepticons wanted to do was save their race all the Autobots wanted to do was destroy,
Not true. They Autobots didn't have a "destroy, destroy, destroy" quota, they were eliminated all of the 'Cons ASAP, before they had a chance to eat (sometimes literally) a huge chunk of the human population. The 'Cons weren't trying to "preserve the species" either, they were using Energon to create more mindless drones so they could end humanity, out a malice. No morals there.

EDIT: Y'know, a few minutes after posting this, I realized that Prime is kinda a Jesus-like figure, with the dieing-then-coming-back-to-life-constantly thing. So... Maybe not the best metaphor around. Regardless, it stands. Just know I meant personality-wise.

to madman:

I do not think many of us are comparing the Transformers movies to the "children's cartoon show". Although many of the fans here grew up and loved the show probably admit it was not the greatest thing in terms of story or characters.

Regardless, just cause it is no more hollow then the original G1 cartoons, does not mean I will expect anything less. In fact I would have preferred a complete retelling of the Transformers universe if it was intelligent writing.

On the other debate about Optimus' choice of morality. I would have to say it was very out of character. I always pictured OP as an idealist in nature, and being idealist does not make you flawless nor a boring character. Actually idealist may be a poor choice of words. He had a set of codes. Even he had to resort in killing, he certainly would not have ripped the face off his opponent.

They should have focused on the major characters of the Autobots and maybe fleshed out Bumblebee and Sam's relationship. The twins were just throwaway humor.

And really. Do we want to see balls on Devastator. :redface

Well the dog humping was completely unnecesary. I agree it did more damage than good. Although I did laugh when the robot turned good and started humping Megan Fox.

3 things...

1 - SEX or Sexual references is not necessary in a Transformers film.

2 - Optimus Prime does not EXECUTE ANYONE. Megatron does...

3 - ...speaking of Megatron, he holds no MASTER.

that is enough to turn me off, but the add not one but 2 more Jar-Jar's to the universe of entertainment......I'm out, and yes, they should offend anyone who feel that they are stereotypes.

I never liked Michael Bay to begin with. I took my son to the first one, and I actually enjoyed it; but not this one, and he is 2 years older now. This decision is based on my unwillingness to expose him to a blatantly bad film and not the sex stuff.

Sorry you got banned from SB (what is that anyway?) I have noticed a rather strong acceptance among the TF community of this film. We actually should be boycotting it for offending what TFs mean to us.

^ You mentioned the first movie...after seeing that one, I walked out of the theaters immediately thinking, "That's quite possibly Bay's BEST movie!" After seeing this sequel, I walked out of the theater questioning, "WHY?!" Too many 'why's' is not a good thing for a movie...this is sadly not one of Bay's better movies.
