RoTF Fixes: Demolisher Wheel, Rampage elbow, pg 4

Recommended Posts

To fix Rampage you need the following:

Lighter fluid

Lighter

Shovel

Step 1) Place Rampage in a safe place. A sidewalk will suffice.

Step 2) Apply liberal amounts of lighter fluid. Be sure to use the entire bottle and get every nook and cranny.

Step 3) Use lighter to set Rampage ablaze.

Step 4) Keep a safe distance and wait until he is no longer on fire.

Step 5) When Rampage is but a smoldering pile of charred goop, scoop him up with the shovel and toss him in the nearest dumpster where he belongs.

And thats how you fix Rampage! Pics may follow...

Awesome! Someone hates Rampage as much as I do.

I sure do. No poseability, no feet, no ankles, legs are connected so they cant move independently of one another, no elbows, treads curl up badly in robot mode and having to rely solely on his back kibble to stand is utter fail. He is not a good figure, practically falls apart in your hands. Although it seems to be a QC problem since some people don't seem to have the falling apart problems.

Dude, you're slightly off the track here. Rampage is a FOUR-LEGGED bot.

Leader Prime has a nice big ball joint at each ankle, but it's slightly inhibited by nearby structure. I trimmed the bottom front of this shin, as it were, and it helps. I could trim more for even more ankle flex, but there's a point where it starts to look bad. Not there yet, tho. You can also trim the top of his foot to acheive the same effect.

Leader Megatron's flip-out blade was just anemic, and it wouldn't even hold itself up in certain poses. I took it apart and wound the spring an extra turn, and now it deploys with authority and stays open.

Deluxe Rampage is one of my favorites so far, 2 very cool modes. His robot mode is hampered by the required hardware for his jackhammer mode, namely spring-loaded joints at his hips and knees. In addition, his legs are joined together internally at the hips, so that they turn as one. No good, but it' an easy fix. Open up his crotch piece, and remove the big central spring. The legs are connected in there, the shaft of one leg fits into a hole in the shft for the other. Simply round out the peg hole on the one side so each leg can now turn at the hip independently of the other. The knees are tricker, as once you remove their springs they have no friction and go floppy. A spacer made from a small ring of yellow wire wrapped around the knee joint post does the trick. Now he can position his front legs at will. What a great toy.

As an aside, I cannot wait to see what Reprolabels will do for some of these guys...

None of which have ANY articulation whatsoever, allowing for 1 pose... standing there.

*Quickly goes and gives his slightly undesired Rampage some love and protection from the haters*

I will admit. Rampage is an utter failure of a figure. Just pure laziness IMO. I mean, would it really have been so hard to give him two legs and maybe a switch somewhere on him that flips his legs from being connected to disconnected. Then again, some of these ideas would require him to be Voyager or bigger probably.

Then again, do we know what he looks like in the movie itself. Maybe he has four legs there.

To add to Hip Hop's Rampage fix...I have a mod that makes him a bit more interesting.

Using a power drill, drill a small shallow hole (a millimeter or so) into each of the pistons. Paint black. Now the pistons can be rotated down and become dual cannons. (they could before, but this makes them look so much nicer)

EDIT: If the Robot Heroes are any indication...Rampage does appear in Jackhammer mode in the movie. The novel also discusses a con bouncing around...could it be that Rampage's jackhammer mode is his true mode, and Hasbro gave us the 4 legged one to appease us?

Look to ancient mythology and look up Centaurs...

Before you go carving up your Rampage, there's a way to disengage the spring. Just spin his hips forward all the way. The spring-loaded hip feature will stop until you spin them back around.
