Well I mean...he's dead. And now there's Starscream, who escaped and can bring back sh*t with him. I just dislike the resurrection of characters, unless it's Jesus. Or Optimus Prime. Or...sigh. Perhaps it will be fine.

You have to remember what you're dealing with here. In a perfect world, yes, Megatron would be dead and gone, and the story would follow the remaining Decepticons carrying on without him. It would be interesting, potentially compelling, and utterly unmarketable. :(

They're trying to reach the hearts & minds of Transformers fans (kids included in that, of course)?

I remember how high the TF movie polled with the female demographic... also when you say "TF fans" I would agree in the sense that I bet a ton of people went to see the movie b/c they had played with the toys as kids... not that they were freakish enough to have held on to it for the intervening 20 years the way we all have. But as I said before, the TF movie proved its viability at the box office, so there's no real need to pander to fans at this point -- if that was ever a goal for them to begin with.

So wait...bringing back Megatron isn'tpandering to fans, or were you talking about Galvatron?

I'm saying that there's going to be a real pull towards bringing Megatron back, whether or not it serves the overall story. It's not like with the superhero movies where you have a grab bag of villains to choose from. It's basically Megatron or nobody (unless you're some comic book gheybo who's ready to bring up Shockwave or Ratbat or Bludgeon or whatever). But the problem is that even if you resisted the obvious urge to bring him back, there still isn't anyone else to take his place. I mean, obviously Starscream could work for an act or two, but ultimately you know his role as a character is to be an arrogant fuck-up who isn't as capable as Megatron. So I guess my point is that you're kind of stuck with Megatron if you want a compelling villain... Galvatron could work, given how they ended the movie and how he might need an "upgrade" of some kind, but I dunno. The source material isn't very rich when you get right down to it. (cue aforementioned comic fans)

I agree with his Lordship the Madhammer, concerning story.

Also, for all we know, "in discussions to return" = "leaving messages on Speilberg's assistant's cell phone."

Well Jazz could have been training a different warrior on Cybertron years ago, this role reprisal could be via FLASHBACKS. An arrogant new soldier needs training and even Ironhide cant cope with the stress of his fast talking lingo so Jazz the Autobot second in command is chosen. No one said it was a ressurection.

Galvatron could be verry easy to explain. The ALLSPARK'S residual radiation does what it did to Frenzy but in hyperdrive, pulling mass from the surroundings and giving him a massive size upgrade.

Well, resurrecting Jazz just sucks IMO, it takes away from the "Death of the Alien Robots". If he "returns" through Flashbacks, I can see and handle that fine. The only other thing that might could happen is Optimus using the Matrix or All-Shard to "speak to the dead" and Jazz is one of them. Not that I like that idea, I don't like it at all.

However, Jazz's death was only used to show the audience why they were afraid of Megatron. Why was Megatron so feared and everyone cried out "Retreat! Fall Back! Move!"??? Cause he could shrug off any firepower the Autobots threw at him (remember Prime shooting him and all it did was spin Megs around a bit) and he could rip one of them in half as if Jazz were a sheet of paper.

Ironhide was 26ft. tall and Jazz was 13ft. tall...so sure Ironhide was twice the height of Jazz, but it wouldn't have mattered, Megs still was a danger to everyone. If Starscream can shoot up both Ratchet and Ironhide at the same time and leave them smoking and stalled out for a good 15-20 minutes, then why would they be able to stop Megatron at all?? They couldn't. The Autobots' size didn't matter, Megs was all but unstoppable (outside omni-plot devices like the Cube).

FYI if we think about it a bit, "flashbacks" make no sense, since we're talking about the actor who did his Earth voice.

I'd like to think that Movie Starscream actually has some insightful character that he could lead in some way.

>_> Or he could bring Shockwave or somebody back from space

Everyone seems to be forgetting one of the major impacts of Jazz's death. EVERYONE had fallen in love with the guy and when he is shouting "Wanna peice of me" the audience is lulled into a false sense of security "its a kids movie they wont kill the cool guy" "NO I WANT *RIP* TWO" gives the "oh crap ANYTHING could happen" .

Actually that makes perfect sense, the human voices in the Autobots in flashbacks could show that Decepticon and Autobot are two distinct language forms and not only that but it would add the extra mystique to the D-Cons.
