Would Starscream's ascention or Shockwave's apperance work any better? Any other "mainstream" ideas?

 

I'm still standing by my conviction to keep Megatron dead. AND NO UNICRON!! For God's sake no Unicron!!

 

Personally, I'd love to see Starscream return and "lead" the Decepticons now that Megatron is out of the way (and maybe Megs could return at the end of the film and they could have another "You fail me again, Starscream" moment, which was just about the only scene in the movie that gave me fanboy goosebumps...Well, of those that didn't have Megan Fox.)

 

What if Unicron returns as a giant, planet-devouring cloud? Wouldn't that be great?

Although, you could market it as "Who's the new MYSTERY DECEPTICON LEADER???" or something like that. Like someone who's badder than Megatron, more feared, someone who's just now coming from Cybertron, etc. That could be anyone if you play it right. But honestly I don't think "Shockwave" when I think of a character who could fit that.

I can think of Shockwave like that. But then again, I am familiar with the Marvel and Dreamwave comics where he beat the Blot out of Megatron a few times.

Seriously, that video rocked. It's one of the reasons why I don't want to see Shockwave as the new 'Con leader. They'll do everything they can to make him bigger and badder then Megatron was, and all I'll be able to think about is "Ah Blot, they got away."

 

Anyway, yes, anyone familiar with the comics sees Shockwave as a credible 'Con leader. The general audience, however, doesn't. They're not familiar with the comics, most think of 1984-85 G1 when they think of Transformers. So if they remember Shockwave at all they remember him as Megatron's suck-up who got left on guard duty. Even then I doubt the majority would even remember him as that. They definitely don't think of him as the badass Decepticon leader from the comics.

 

The best bet would be to have Starscream lead them until Megs is resurrected as either himself or Galvy. Then have him put 'Screamer in his place. Predictable? Yes. But it's better then keeping Megatron dead and then introducing some obscure Marvel Comics Decepticon war lord and using him as the new leader. Hell, not even Starscream could pull off the leader bit for very long.

 

So to bring this all full circle, Megatron gets to be brought back because he's more or less essential to the story. Jazz, however, isn't. I'm sure Paramount and Dreamworks understands this, and the general audience understands this, at least on a sub-conscience level.

I like the Marvel interpretation of Shockwave. Cold, calculating, unemotive.

What? Jazz died, there is no reason he should come back and have a bigger amount of characterization or screentime than Ratchet or Ironhide. Both of those characters could use more fleshing out in the next movie, and Ironhide was easily the 3rd 'bot when compared to use and good screentime in the first movie. They may not need to have an excess amount of screentime devoted to them, but seriously simply because they survived automatically means they kinda deserve more screentime than the 'bot who was ripped in half in the last movie.

 

I just don't see how bringing Jazz back is a good idea at all for the story of this movie series. Except for the fanboys/girls who love Jazz, there isn't really a good point to having him come back.

 

Fellow fan, forgive me cause im still new to these boards and take these boards VERY VERY VERY seriously....just kidding but seriously, I AM A JAZZ FANBOY!!! but I WILL say he is a central character in any TF piece of fiction he's in, and fleshing out of the other characters?? They got as much characterization that they needed for their roles,

 

Ratchet= Medic......with little pistol/chainsaw

Ironhide=Horny for his Cannons

 

not to mentioned they were BOTH downed by Starscream. I'm not gonna lie, Ironhide and Ratchet were average bots, but Jazz sucked in the movie, his ONLY DEFINING moment if you call it defining has him ripping off Kup's little number he did on Blitzwing in the 86' movie, besides that and his stupid urban personality instead of the Rock and Roll attitude he had in G1......

 

Jazz is AS central as the other Autobots, not that they'll kill off Bumblebee,( i dont think they ever will) and who the Powerglide will replace Optimus if he gets killed?!?!?! HOT ROD?? no offense, good secondary bot, but not leader material, who COULD REPLACE EITHER BB OR PRIME?? I never liked Bumblebee that much till the movie, until they made him the unofficial MAIN BOT and gave him most bot screen time, and yeah i know the whole boy/car thing.

 

 

BRING JAZZ BACK AND MAKE HIM MORE POWERFUL THAN OPTIMUS AND MEGATRON COMBINED!!! REVIVE SCATMAN CROTHERS, GIVE HIM HIS G1 COLOR SCHEME, AND MAKE HIM A DAMN PORSCHE 935 OR WHATEVER HE WAS!!!!!! CAUSE I AM THE MOST BIAS JAZZ FAN THERE IS

 

 

 

PS, I hope Darius McCrary's statement wasn't bullBlot and see what they CAN AND SHOULD do for Jazz in TF2, and if Jazz ain't in TF2.....I'll settle for Prowl, Smokescreen, or Bluestreak, or Dinobots....and he's also going to appear in TF:Animated so any way i get to see Jazz in action i'll take it and not complain BWAHAHA

As far as 'con leaders go, I think either Megatron should come back (AS Megatron), or it should be Starscream or Shockwave.

Yeah, he did it to keep the GM deal adn save 3 million dollars. But hey it worked, IMO.

Wasn't it more that that was his only real option? I think he only picked the Solstice because that was the only Jazz-like car available to him from GM.

 

And FYI, knowing Bay, that is probably the most compelling reason why Jazz was killed / probably won't be back.
