And there was much re-jazzing

For anyone the movie should have had more G1 elements... well... here you go! STORY INCONSISTENCY!! Dead warriors should stay DEAD! To resurrect warriors in every subsequent movie is G1 lame. I'm sorry, cast stones at me if you wish :stone but what's the point of killing off someone if they're just gonna come back?

Like killing off Megatron?

IMO, keep Megatron dead too. Plenty of other Con baddies out there to replace him (Jhiaxus, Galvatron, Thunderwing, etc.)

Megatron isn't quite the TF equivalent of Optimus, though, since Megatron changed into Galvatron in 1986 (as did his toy, lol). Optimus was always Optimus. I don't think you could dramatically pull off some underling leading the Decepticons long-term, though, since movie Megatron was so clearly head and shoulders above everyone else in his army (except when it came to navigation, I guess).

Exactly. They know Prime is a 'sacred cow' so they're gonna tread on ice with doing anything fatal with him. I still think the trilogy as a whole will hold more ground if they keep dead characters dead. Of course, this 'leak' could serve to get the fans at each other's throats so they can concentrate on working on the movie.

Is it working?

I sense that Jazz might be revived in an early scene to establish the resurrectorial properties of the Allshard so they can use it on Megs later.

:lol It'd be funny if a resurrected Megatron killed him a second time

Not that I want Megs to come back

Um...Ironhide's not much bigger than Jazz, as compared to Megatron's stance.

Ironhide is like twice as big as Jazz and he has a lot more weaponry. Plus he's the strongest Autobot next to Prime.

Who else is it going to be? Long-term, I mean. From a dramatic standpoint, it seems that it would eat up a huge amount of time to introduce another Big Bad Guy. Think of how much build-up there was with Megatron in the first movie. Do you really want to do all of that again, and would it play as well a second time, since you've already done it once with the audience? Obviously there are going to be new characters introduced, but it seems to me that the Decepticon leader has to have more than just "here I am" and you see him kicking ass in battle and stuff. Megatron has already been established as a character, his "Achilles' heel" is no longer an issue since the Allspark is gone...

I'm just speaking dramatically about all this, not from a fan perspective or anything. (If I were to go that route, I'd start talking about Galvatron.)

Well I mean...he's dead. And now there's Starscream, who escaped and can bring back sh*t with him. I just dislike the resurrection of characters, unless it's Jesus. Or Optimus Prime. Or...sigh. Perhaps it will be fine.

The point is that he effortlessly ripped one of the Autobots in half.

Again, the Autobot he ripped in half was only 1/5 his height so it's no surprise that it was effortless. Now had Megatron stormed towards Ironhide while shrugging off his missiles, grabbed him, lifted him over his head, and then ripped him in half, that would have been far more impressive.

Have you ever tried ripping a midget in half? I doubt it's that easy, even for a bodybuilder.

As far as character and plot development go, it's pretty pointless to revive Jazz. I was really hoping they wouldn't do it. Reviving Megatron is one thing- the ultimate villain's return would actually drive the plot forward. This sends the plot backward.

You have to remember what you're dealing with here. In a perfect world, yes, Megatron would be dead and gone, and the story would follow the remaining Decepticons carrying on without him. It would be interesting, potentially compelling, and utterly unmarketable. :(

Speaking from a non-fan point of view, Galvatron actually makes a little sense, given his history... He'd be a good "replacement" for Megatron: Same personality, but far more potent. As a dramatic device, it works too. How many sequals have used the "he's back and badder than before" plot device? A Blotload, that's how many.

I agree that it could work, but the name change would be retarded and would really be too much of a wink to the audience. Like "hey in case you forgot, these are toys too and we're trying to sell some".
