But this would seriously undercut whatever emotional resonance Jazz' death had... not that there was a whole lot as it played, anyway.

That's just it, there was so little emotional resonance concerning Jazz's death that bringing him back wouldn't undercut a damn thing. No one would probably give a damn either way so they might as well just bring him back. Now when a character dies a death that has actual emotional resonance, then you leave them dead.

Did it ever. Ironhide was the next big star after Prime and BB. After seeing him control the entire battlefield and with all his other moments throughout the movie, If Megs would have dropped down and punched a hole through Ironhide's chest causing him to fall down in slow motion and his eyes to go blank, I think I would have shed a tear. With Jazz's death I was like, "Okay. BB got his lower half blown off, Frenzy was decapitated so why is Jazz dead again?"

I think Jazz is dead, and new Autobots should be introduced instead. Have Ironhide and Ratchet die, too. 86 style. Bring out Wheeljack, Mirage or HotRod instead.

Yeah I thought the same. Especially about BB. Maybe Bay told this actor guy to say that, in order to spread those false leaks he wanted to cause. :roll

For anyone the movie should have had more G1 elements... well... here you go! STORY INCONSISTENCY!! Dead warriors should stay DEAD! To resurrect warriors in every subsequent movie is G1 lame. I'm sorry, cast stones at me if you wish :stone but what's the point of killing off someone if they're just gonna come back?
