What's up All. New to the scene here. So I just read Spotlight: KUP and it was just great. The best issue of the series!!

I think Shockwave is still my favorite spotlight.

Usually I'd say that it's not good for an ongoing series when I think the best part of it is the character one offs, but seriously the whole IDW run is pure win, and the Spotlights are just so chock full of fan wank that I can't help but gush when I read em...

As for Kup... just wow...

Nothing like a good "I Am Legend" story... and he's right, Outback is useless.

When will IDW introduce Autobots: Tracks , Warpath, Mirage, Blaster, Bluestreak, or Blurr? Or how about tha Combatcons, tha Constuctiocns or tha Stunticons?

well, at the end of Escalation 6, Megatron told Astrotrain he wanted reinforcements. He only named Sixshot specifically, but maybe Devastation would be a good time to introduce Devastor. Although the combiners we've seen so far don't appear to have combining abilities, so maybe the introduction of gestalts will be an arc in itself.

So, who thinks Escalation 6 showed Big Convoy, and who thinks Nemesis Prime?

alert: Possible spoilers ahead.

I really liked the Kup Spotlight. Kup has typically been portrayed as a grumpy old fart in G1, but this story really lends Kup some serious history - the fact that he mentored most of the Autobots, and that they were all willing to put their lives on the line to save their former teacher is truly an emotionally beautiful ideal... the notion that the Autobots were ever-grateful to Kup for his long life-time dedicated to imparting his knowledge and wisdom to other Autobots. His teachings were sometimes underappreciated in other stories, but it was cool to see that deep down, every Autobot truly appreciated what he had accomplished and no sacrifice was too great to rescue Kup.

It really reminds me of the true meaning of the word "Sensei." Your teacher. Your master.

The "To Sir With Love" kind of attitude of Springer and the other Autobots' towards Kup is similar to that of Anakin Skywalker towards Obi-Wan Kenobi in Episode II and the beginning of Episode III (obviously before he became Vader - which Obiwan considers a separate entity from Anakin anyway) - although Anakin wasn't always appreciative of Obiwan's wisdom, whenever Obi-wan was in danger, Anakin was quick to defend him. He and Padmé made a daring attempt to rescue him on Geonosis (although they failed there can be no doubting his good intention), then he risked himself again in helping to scrape off and fight off the Buzz Droids, then finally he refused to leave Obi-Wan behind when abadoning the listing Invisible Hand (Grievous' ship), carrying an unconscious General Kenobi on his shoulder. And as revealed later on, they'd even been keeping a tally of the number of times Anakin had had to pull Obi-Wan's arse out of fire.

Darn, Im falling behind... Damn exams

just finished reading Escalation, still need to read the Spotlights. Lotta cools stuff, Hot Rod, Hardhead, and Nightbeat were cool. Wonder who the talking head is, any guesses? Ravage, Lazerbeak, Shockwave, the Dinobots, whole lotta robo action going down. Man, I have missed a lot. Can't wait for Devastation, and I think the one after that is Revelation.

OK, I don't know if this has been talked about before, but does anybody else think the "talking head" from Escalation is Scorponok. His MO is to use local corporations to accomplish his goals, just as he did in the Ultra Magnus spotlight. He could be upgrading the Machination with Cybertronian tech just as he did on Nebulos. And he could be reduced to his current state because of his encounter with Magnus. Mister Dante seems to be wanting upgrades, just as Zarak did. And, the Machination's headquarters looks just like the Cranium's headquarters as well. Scorponok must be the mastermind behind the Machination.

A lot of people are saying Scorponok now. A lot of people said Shockwave before, but as we can all see that's not really possible.

I was very impressed with Escalation. It had a great blend of action, character dev. and plenty of robots to boot.

Although to be honest I was hoping the Reapers would not reappear for a while now. I think its a little to early to be bringing Sixshot to Earth. My main fear is that IDW will do a Dreamwave and try to progress on too quickly.
