apparently, the Galvatron spotlight has been moved to July. Wasn't it supposed to be in march or april? He'll also be making an apperance in Escalation 5, as well as the spotlight coming after his. He'll play a big role in the Devastation arc, and the one following that as well (Revalation). Furman also said Galvatron won't get a Rodimus Prime-like counterpart, but he will be pitted against may other characters, including Megatron and Magnus.

Heads up for anyone who hasn't read Soundwave yet: It takes place before Infiltration or Stormbringer. I was confused for about half the issue before I realized that.

overall, I thought it was pretty good. I only wish that IDW would put out a time line, or a blurb at the beginning of spotlights that says "This issue takes place between..." Something

what, the single yellow exposition box on page one, upper left hand corner, saying

Eden, Texas, 1984.

wasn't enough? :)

i assume that infiltration/escalation occur in the present, so 1984 would definitely date the soundwave story before those arcs.

:redface missed that the first time.

but I still think a timeline would be cool for reference, and for the other spotlights that weren't on earth.

Bought and read the Soundwve spotlight.

First off, I think these spotlights are bloody expensive. I haven't actually counted the pages, but I don't get the impression that these spotlights are much thicker than the regular issues, which are already pretty pricy.

Storywise

I didn't felt it was that impressive. Soundwave has spied on Bludgeon for millenia and he can read minds, but nevertheless hasn't figured/found out that Bludgeon and his gang isn't interested in gaining power?

Somewhat unbelieveable.

As usual with IDW, I wasn't overly impressed with the art. I've seen worse, a whole lot worse, with some previous spotlight, but I just know there are better artist out there. (Seems to me IDW is deadset on not getting the best artists: their Star Trek comics are also an exercise in lousy art.)

Also, I was very surprised to see Soundwave transform into his old walkman mode. Thanks to Escalation I had come to believe that mass displacement (i.e. shrinking in size when transforming) was impossible due to the Energon shortage and wasn't possible again until Ore 13 was discovered.

SO far, Magnus remains my favorite spotlight.

I liked Soundwave's spotlight. the ending was pretty sweet and they came up with a decent excuse for him being a walkman, however the mass displacement thing bothers me.

i thought the issue was pretty good, although i'm heavily biased toward soundwave. it's interesting how these all come together, and i love the way idw is tying this in with the infiltration/escalation storyline.

as for mass shifting... he's been in his walkman mode for a long time so he doesn't have to worry about energy. it's not like he tf'd 5 or 6 times in the issue.

I just read the Soundwave book and was disappointed honestly. It touched on some things but ended quickly and boringly. The last page was funny.
