First Look @ 'Animated' Optimus Prime; New Info On Show

Recommended Posts

Gaaaah!

That was my first response. Not sure if i could ever warm up to this design though.

The point however is that the show should appeal to kids but I am not sure if this will. Only time will tell.

My kids think it looks cool... FWIW

Since kids are the target group, I would say that is somewhat reassuring. I will wait untill I have actually seen the show before passing judgement. I mean the stories is what counts most.

Kids really don't think (or obsess) about the kind of things adults do. My kids don't care about articulation in action figures, show-accuracy, scale, or whether or not a toy is even from a particular version of Transformers. My two-year-old son is absolutely nuts about the upcoming movie, but his favorite Transformer is Cybertron Optimus Prime. He doesn't care what it looks like; he knows it's Prime and that's all that matters. And yeah, he is able to identify both the movie and G1 versions of Starscream, Jazz, Megatron, Bumblebee, etc. They're just in this to have fun. That's what it's all about. It's not some deadly serious thing that they get upset about. If they don't like it, they simply move on to something else.

It would be nice to see more of that from the adults.

i think stylized animation work for the most part..............on human figures, that is. i have yet to see a good example on inanimate objects and robots, and i would love to see how they would transform prime in a satisfactory manner in animation

From what I remember reading a few months ago, it is going to be a spinning, twirling mess and then the other mode. No complex transformation w/ this show, just a bunch of movement and then done.

So not liking this picture. Good god I hope they make it look better than this when they are actually moving. Man that is a terrible picture to release.

How could TFs have evolved into such a cool show and beast wars and have devolved in to unwatchable SH-T in the last few years.

The elephant Prime. Whoever developed the movie images, decided on an asthetic I did not appreciate, whoever drew that should not be allowed to draw. Their fingers should be broken for the good of all of humanity. This image of Prime would make all TFs less cool if it was drawn by a kindergardener and thrown away by a spiteful parent, the publishing of this image on the net is a crime against humanity. Who's making this show? Wasn't Ewe Bowl or Roger Corman available? Who's lame ass re-re nephew drew that? Don't they think kids have eyes? The movie designs were a sack of sh-t on my porch. This is diarrhea in my mouth.

No over-reaction on this board. No sir.

It's one (1) picture from an animated series. And, as has been pointed out, it's not even a good pose for judging the figure. You can't tell how fluidly it will be animated, how the characters interact, how good (or bad) the storylines are, or any of the other really important things from one picture of a character no matter how hard you try.

How about you STFU and back the Powerglide off. Wanting to have physical harm come to a person for doing there job and working on a KIDS' CARTOON is about as low as it gets. So stop being a douchebag and STFU and move on, ignore it if you don't like it. And if you think kids won't like this, you might want to look at what kids watch these days that's popular.

Damn Right. You can't tell how much effort or work goes into this show at this glance.

Now - this is exactly what I said it would look like when we originally heard about it = Transformers in a stylized, almost Clone Wars style. This isn't exactly what I was hoping for, but I like it. Yes, I like it. And some of you douchensteins should STFU. Until you've worked in animation (and yes I have - for a studio under Cartoon Network in fact) you don't know how hard animation is, nor do you have any real idea how this will fully look until you see the pilot episode. You can all hate it all you want to since that is your right, but makes no difference. Maybe some of you guys should step back from your 20-40 year old fanboy bubbles and realize this is for kids, not you guys. They went with what was obviously a popular animated style choice. They did marketing and research, otherwise they wouldn't have thrown money out for this to be done. Cartoon Network is VERY picky about what tehy will take chances on, whether you believe this or not. I've seen some really awesome story and animation ideas that were pitched to CN, but because they weren't soemthing that kids would show a lot of interest to, they weren't produced. You guy don't know how this industry works a lot of the time. They went with this because it could possibly be a big seller for them.

Now once again, you guys have the right to hate it, totally. And I can honestly understand the dislike. But stop being whiny Powerglideing fanboys who go off the deep end over a freaking children's cartoon when it will probably be just like RID, A/E/C, and others - just a blip on the overall TF Franchise radar. In otherwords, another version of TFs before the next big thing in this fandom/franchise.

Well at BigBot.com they have put up an animated toy check list. Only things on it are Prime and Megs. Says there is a spring 2008 release date for them. Anyways I find that Bigbot's check lists are a great place to keep up with new info on the toys.

I wonder how they figured that out. :tflaugh

:rofl

They forgot Starscream.

I think it's often overlooked, that with the exceptions of DW/IDW's comics and now the movie - pretty much ALL of Transformers has been intended for kids.

I agree Trench. This is all but ridiculous. I'm not saying everyone should like it. Not at all, but....

One thing - It's okay to hate this style, hate this show. But damn...wishing physical harm to people over a cartoon, acting like this is a personal assault on you and/or your fanboy Nosecone size, or just being retardedly overly emotional about this is just stupid. It is just another part of the TF Franchise, one that won't be the ultimate be-all, end-all. It's just here until the next part comes along.
