sunstorm is an abonination to our fandom

Recommended Posts

Sunstorm is only an abomination when they release him *instead* of a higher-priority seeker, specifically thundercracker or skywarp. I don't really mind him being released before the coneheads, since they require remolding to do properly (yay classics!) but having him supplant TC or SW is simply annoying.

i think the main problem is Hasbro repainting toys into characters from Dreamwave's comics. Dreamwave's characters are by no means as popular as Hasbro makes them out to be.

Yeah, like white version of Prime as Magnus. Because of the comics, now Hasbro is repainting almost every prime white and passing him for Magnus.

If I were completely cynical, I would say that Hasbro had DW do that on purpose. Too bad they folded before they could introduce Nemesis Hot Rod.

:tflaugh You and Slaughtermaster should have your own forum.

White Prime bothers me because they've effectively replaced one of the best-known Geewun characters with this thing that looks nothing like him. I'm really glad for the Titanium version of Ultra Magnus, though; for a while I thought he was going to be Lucas Retcon'd out of existence. ("He's always been that way")

!

I don't really think they'd go that far. It's just so easy for Hasbro to make a few easy extra bucks off fans with that repaint. Which is perfectly justifed. >_>

Not when it's "Classics" Ultra Magnus.

That is all.

The whole "Ultra Magnus" & "Nemesis Prime" thing is just HasTak trying to milk more money out of each new Optimus Prime mould.

Although I do really like Laser Ultra Magnus. I wasn't that interested in picking up the Battle Convoy reissue, but Laser Magnus is neat. Also, the fact that it's a limited exclusive gives it an extra coolness.

But with out the "nostalgia" factor - which seekers are more appropriate for a mainline toy figure aimed at kids?

*Silver/red

*Blue/red

*black/purple

*orange/white

I am guessing that this is one of the main reasons for the attention hes gotten recently.

Whether its actually true or not - Hasbro does tend to think that kids want Day-Glo Colors

bright colors stand out and grab attention, so yeah

that's why we have vac-metallized C-3PO and R2-R2

in case anyone cared about that

I have to agree...Classics Magnus is the only one of the Magnus repaints that looks lame to me

Oh! You mean the whole idea of a Classics Magnus. It must suck to have nostalgic ties. :wave

Plus , since G1 toys or comics related to G1, the three seekers have not been put togeter in a story. In Cybertron we had Starscream and Thundercracker but no Skywarp. So most kids don't care to see these three characters together as much as those of us who grew up with G1.
