MP-03 Starscream Remold

Recommended Posts

Personally I will be buying both the MP and Classics versions, partially because I'm a Satscream junkie, and because as said above they're both great in their own right. I can forgive the color scheme on MP-3 because for once, he's actually a Robot in Disguise with a fairly realistic Alt-mode, unlike the airshow demonstrator-stylke colors of the original G1 design and much better than the versions that aren't actually disguised as anything remotely Earth-like. Now that's not to say I wouldn't buy the anime version as well if I had the cash, just to have SS in his classic colors and MP quality, but I can live with a (mostly) realistic F-15 color scheme. Besides it was designed by my personal mecha-creatinbg hero Shoji Kawamori. ALL HAIL THE HORY FROATING HEAD OF KAWAMORI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Second, has anyone taken a good look at what the canopy does in bot mode? In the first mold the canopy fit snugly down into SS's pelvis, making a nice, flat stomach. On the new mold it seems to just stop abruptly, with the end being flat, not curved, and literally hanging out over his belt area. It seems like a very odd thing to want to do to the mold, though it may serve a purpose in jet mode.

Check again. That's just a mistransformation.

:wave :wave I am angry, piss, and very disappointed with this MP Starscream! By next month if I don't see any change, I'll definitely cancel my Pre-Order. It's a masterpiece version and yet it's less accurate to the cartoon. Even the classic Starscream is more accurate to the cartoon than this MP3. :tdown :tdown

The mold itself is definitely a masterpiece and beautiful I'll admit to that. If this MP3 was called ALT/BT Starscream, I'll gurantee there wouldn't be any criticism from the fans.

However, what's wrong with the MP3 is the interpretation of the G1 Starscream is so wrong! Since when did the G1 Starscream has hip joint flap and those colors in any TF canon? They teased us with the first prototype that was very much accurate to the cartoon and got many fans excited. But then, they smack us in the face and introduced something that look like a TF/Robotech/Gundam rip off. :tdown :tdown

I think Takara forgot that they were making a Transformer and ended up making a model airplane instead. I, for one, don't care that the nosecone opens up and has a radar dish inside of it, nor do I care about landing flaps that slow the jet down when it lands.

MP Starscream is okay, but it's not anything I'm rushing to buy. I would have been happy with a Starscream that was made in the same way as MP Optimus Prime. A Masterpiece is supposed to be an upscale version of G1 toys, not a model airplane that turns into a robot.

:tflaugh You guys kill me. Like you know what a Masterpiece is "supposed to be". Did Takara call you and tell you this? Have you ever considered that you might just possibly be using the wrong criteria? Sorry he's not all G1 colored and stuff... I never thought I'd hear people complaining about an alt mode being too realistic.

sorry you don't like it and everything, but geez

Exactly.

They merely wanted to inject a bit more realism to the figure which they did well enough. Sure a lot of people think masterpiece figures should be show accurate, but apparently Takomy thinks they can improve on the original. I still think it's cool enough to get, even if it doesn't look as much like his g1 bot in some areas.

Look at the bright side, Hasbro HAS kept the door open for releasing their own MP Screamer. If they're paying as much attention to the fandom as many think they are, then maybe they'll know to do the original version of this mold with the show accurate colors. It may be a bit of a longshot, but hey, ya' never know!

Oh, okay. You're right. That helps a lot, actually. I noticed something else, though. Does anyone else think his face looks gold? I don't know that gold would be any worse than grey or silver, since it's supposed to be black anyway, but I definitely see a gold-ish hue coming off of his face.

its just with joshlowe, your nitpicking to the extreme.

Not nitpicking, I buy toys for a different reason.

When many Starscream about technical aspects, or knees on Alternators and so on, that to me is pertty.

But of course, they're not nitpicking, they buy toys for diffferent reasons and therefore it's a genuine deal.

I mean, it may be your job as a consumer to complain, but not to us, man.

I do that just for fun.:P

*apathy*

*Expects nothing else*

but apparently Takomy thinks they can improve on the original.

As with anything old that has a following, you can't improve on the original.

That's not because the original was perfect, but because the flaws were part of the original's success and popularity.

I can somewhat understand joshlowe's point of view. When I see TT(I will not call it Titanium, dammit) Rodimus, his torso and to a lesser extent arms just leap out at me as steroid injected and ghey. it's the first thing I see when I look at those pics of his robot mode.

i do think you should maybe cut down on the complaining though, dude. I mean, you're getting pratically emo about it...

joshlowes alright. he'll jst be known as "the guy who was REALLY mad about mp sceamer."

however, ill vote for a wrist cutting emoticon.
