MP-03 Starscream Remold

Recommended Posts

The real root of the problem, and I think what others have been trying to say, is this: They could've made a super-realistic jet AND a show accurate bot mode, but they chose to do one and not the other. A lot of the changes made, especially the colors on bot mode, are completely arbitrary, and I think that sticks in a lot of people's craws.

that's a bit like saying "if you want a highly detailed realistic car, buy a model kit"

And what's wrong with that?

I like Vipers, I think they're beautiful cars.

But I don't look to Transformers to give me a scale replica, because there are already scale replicas that far surpass anything Transformers could achieve and because the whole robot character thing can only be found here.

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I never once looked at Transformers and thought "I wish they would make the alt modes more real, in fact put more effort into them at the expense of the robot, to cater for another unconnected interest of mine."

Just doesn't make sense to me.

Spot on. :thumb

The real problem is the fans. Takara will sell-out of MP-Starscream almost immediately whilst making a nice profit to boot. I'll be helping them too! :P

I agree completely. I dont understand why they can't make both, you know, one for people who like the charachter more so than the actual jet, as its been said before, if you want a highly detailed realistic jet, buy a model kit.

If you want a coold robot mode, buy an actionmaster...

Me I want both and hence I'm overjoyed with MPSS.

IMO "arbitrary" would have been coloring him purple and green. There's a pretty clear connection between the color scheme and the real-world F-15 touches.

You may not like that they did that, and that's fine. You're entitled to like or not like whatever you want. But I think what's "sticking in people's craws" is the simple fact that this isn't a pure G1 Starscream homage, period. You can dress that up all you want, but it all comes down to the same thing. And either you're okay with Starscream looking the way he does, or you're not.

Not that I don't understand people's disappointment. I just wish more naysayers could appreciate MP Starscream for what it is, rather than focusing solely on what it isn't.

Transformers are Robots in disguise. Not robots that turn into something that looks like crap. G1 definately put alt mode before robot mode for the majority of the line (Optimus prime, silverstreak, red alert, megatron, starscream etc). The right trade offs were made with MPSS

um that's like the best point ever and stuff :eek :thumb :pfx

So you're telling me that the first MPSS looked like crap?

Or Masterpiece Prime?

And how much of a disguise was Cybertron Prime's firetruck or Vector Prime?

Even Alt Streak (and others) aren't realsitic; they have seats missing, seperation lines where they shouldn't be, split windows and so on.

I'd hardly call them crap though...

If I post a picture of an F15's underside and a picture of the second MPSS's underside, you will find that it is not realistic; improved, but not realistic.

Does that make it crap?

Or do you have this percentage that differentiates between acceptable and crap?

And as far as G1 goes, you're kidding yourself.

Bluestreak's whole visible interior was absent to make room for legs, and Starscream (which you tout as putting alt mode first) has been pushed as others as not being realistic enough, sacrificing too much jet mode, and it goes on.

They constantly sacrfificed the alt mode for the robot mode.

It's something Transformers has always done.
