I could see them releasing another "Anniversary" type toy. He'd need to be the size of Ann. Prime to really fit in with Alternators. Of course, I'm like others. I really don't care as long as we get it.

and BTW Hasbro is concerned about the success of the Transformers brand overall...

well, i'm just not sure how the kids would react to toys based on the movie designs. they're just not used to tf toys being relatively realistic. at the very least, Hasbro might give the toys brighter colors.

My guess (such as it is) is that Hasbro's main concern is that the film be a success. And part of that means allowing the director of the film to have his own vision of what the Transformers should be / look like / etc. Look, if the film is a hit, then it won't matter how good the movie toys are. More important is that the brand will be brought back into the forefront of pop culture, which will pay far more lasting dividends than a single movie tie-in line.

As I've, and many others have already said, I just hope it comes out.

An Alternator seems the most likely choice, but seeing as it's not in scale what's so bad about another Anniversary figure?

And in response to the earlier quote about the Starscream design, Don already said that was fake.  He said "Starscream is not a monkey."

It does look cool, but I hope it's not for the Alternators line....simply because as stated in bot mode, he would tower over all my Alts. I have now, that was the reason why I got rid of my 20th Prime, plus the fact that I got Alt. Prime helped me make that decission. I hate when things in my collection are way out of proportion. That's the main reason I stay away from the Cybertron line (and others)

Its 1/24 scale, just like the Alternators, so it would be in proportion. If in real life Megatron were a tank and Smokescreen were a Subaru, then Megs would "tower" over Smokes.

ALT., I dunno... but they could do it for the MP line.

The Alternators line is only automobiles (cars and trucks and things). The Masterpiece line (with the strange exception of MP-02) makes G1 cartoon, highly articulate figures. Technically, this Megatron wouldn't fit into either line.  Maybe it'll be the next, cool addition to Transformers: Universe!  :tflaugh

Just wanted to throw this out here:

We know that non-consumer car Alternators can't be 1:24 scale, as they'd be too big. I mean.. at 1:24 scale jet would be scary.

But the M1A1 Abrams? If it were Alternators scale, in alt mode it would be 13" long, 6" wide, and 4" tall. (Wikipedia dimension listings)

I was also looking into whether or not Hasbro could get the contract to produce them, and found out that they are made by General Dynamics, specifically the Chrysler defense division. GD also makes a ton of subs, and the F-16 fighter (so close, yet so far).

... Damn, www.generaldynamics.com is a sparse website.

Damn, are you kidding? I just wasted 20 minutes going through all the media on that site! Interesting stuff!

To answer a previous question - most "higher end" tank models are 1:35 scale.

(Why that particular scale I have no idea - maybe it's a similar story to 1:43 model cars.)

The standard scale for military models is 1:35

It is a compromise between size and ease of superdetailing

MP Megs would be AWSOME!

Alt Megs would be AWSOME!

Even Movie Megs Would be... you get the idea...

Come on Has Tak... Give us a Megatron we can all be proud of!
