Alternator Megatron????

Recommended Posts

Since the Classics Grimlock color chart surfaced within a day or so of this guy, I'm wondering if these are both from the same source and that this tank Megs was intended to be part of the Classics line.

That's my thought unfortunately. Maybe he's a back burner Leader class.

This pic drives me so crazy. We have no info what so ever about it.

i don't think so. this Megatron doesn't have the same design asthetic as the other classics. he's labled as having a real world vehicle for an alt-mode and he has a realistic paint job to match. if this was classic Megs, i would have expected the colors to be more dayglowish. also, the design asthetic better matches that of the alternators than classics.

umm....... I dunno. I'm not sure that I totally disagree, but I look at the alt modes for every Classics fig except Megatron and they look pretty Earth-ish.

However, there are a lot of very very specific G1 Megs visual cues (most notably the abdomen) on this figure, and that makes me think it might be something else altogether. Alternators...? maybe, I dunno.

I JUST WANT IT

Classics Starscream is pretty much a realistic F-15 (paint scheme aside).

Anyway, I was speculating based on the "color chart" - and the coinciedence that another chart for Classics Grimlock materialized within a day of the tank Megs.  (I don't recall ever seeing one of these charts for an Alt, although I'm sure they must exist.)

well, the design of the arms and the legs seem closer to that of Alternators than the classics. they're more detailed with better articulation.

The only thing that doesn't look "mainline fig" to me is the hands, which do look pretty Alt-esque.  However, I can't remember how the hands looked on any of the other color charts I've seen (i.e. did a peg-hole fisted robot have more realistic hands in the picture or not).

Also, a main-line fig might just have molded fists with no peg-holes if he doesn't have a weapon to hold.

I agree with this but it also looks like MP to me too.

MP or Alt are both good suggestions. The legs look a LOT like Alt. Grimlock and the hands scream Alt. as well.

If this WERE a MP I would be one happy peasant.

Going by MP Starscream's design sketches I'd say this was a pretty weak-ass MP Megatron sketch. even by Alt standards it's weak.
