:rofl Watched some BM last night, form my new box set. Damn, that's a good show. I still love how sarcastic and pissed off that Thrust got by the end of the series. You could tell he really enjoyed not being Waspinator. Of course, the irony is that he became Thrustinator. :D

Anyway, it's all about opinion. Just because comics fans and show fans have different opinions doesn't mean that one or the other continuity doesn't exist. It's all about what you make it. It's ALL fictional anyway. Stop worrying about "this show didn't go with the way things were back then" and all that other crap. Sit back and enjoy these shows for what they're meant to be. ENTERTAINMENT.

Let go of your fanboy wankfests and just enjoy this stuff. It's all good in it's own way. ALL OF IT. I have enjoyed every single series, every single comic, every single toy, in it's own way. I am a Transformers fan and I like Transformers. Not just part of it. All of it.

I watched the BW episode on the DVD I got with the Rattrap reissue last night... it was fun to hear that BW music again, it's so evocative. It certainly is different from BM (I had forgotten about the way BW episodes used to end with those ghey "happy" moments), but I still enjoyed it.

Even so, I do have to disengage the post-pubescent part of my brain in order to really enjoy the show... I mean, it is for kids, and you can tell when you watch it. I guess that's why I like BM so much, it sucks as a kids' show. :tflaugh Well at least by normal "kid show standards", my sons (ages 3 and 7) love it.

My BM DVDs finally came last night.  Man, it is a good show.  (I'd only seen the first two episodes when it originally aired - as I recall, I think FOX aired them back-to-back on a Sunday night as an experiment before thier usual 'toon lineup.)  I watched the entire first disc in pretty much one sitting - then had to refrain from staying up all night to watch more.

I never realized that Jim Byrnes (BW Inferno, woot!) did Thrust's voice:  "Thrust, overdrive!"

I am a Transformers fan and I like Transformers. Not just part of it. All of it.

They all have their high points. Some just don't have as many.

I have enjoyed every single series, every single comic, every single toy, in it's own way. I am a Transformers fan and I like Transformers. Not just part of it. All of it.

Now to me this is as extreme as those who stick by the continuity just because it's official.

By that logic, if they renamed Gobots and sold it as a Transformers series, you would automatically give it the time of day because you're a Transformers fan, even if you didn't like it the first time around. :eek :P

What? You can't understand why a Transformers fan would like Transformers? I'm just not the type of fan that sits around whining at everything that comes out. Of course, it helps that I can afford to get most of it, which is what I see as one of the biggest problems for most people. "I can't afford it, so I must hate it." There's no shame in saying "I sure wish I could afford this, because it's cool." People don't do it much though. Besides, your Gobots comment is completely pointless. If they were Gobots, then they wouldn't be Transformers.

Actually, Gobots has already been worked into Transformers continuity. Officially.

But this thread is supposed to be about Bob Skir and BM, so let's get back on topic, eh?

I think he's saying that he doesn't understand why a Transformers fan must like anything with the name "Transformers" on it. It implies a lack of discernment, and makes it seem like all Transformers are equal, which not only elevates poorly conceived/designed TFs but which also degrades the better ones.

And I do think that your comment about dislike proceeding from a lack of funds is pretty snobbish. It is possible to simply have the ability to effectively critique things, without money playing a role in that decision. However, "value" is an inherent part of such critiquing, and if someone's asking you to pay $500 for a figure that you feel is worth $50, then the gulf between retail value and actual value (in your opinion) is going to probably be too great to warrant a purchase, unless you're just frivolous with your income.
