I have somewhat cooled on my hatred for Beast Machines.  I mean, I wouldn't buy the DVD set, but I would watch it again if it were playing on tv. Still, as a Beast Wars fan, I can't help but dislike Beast Machines.

I'm also a G.I. Joe fan, and to me, BM is the Transformers equivalent of the Eco-Warriors line of the early '90s.  It's all "corporate responsibilty" junk, on the part of Hasbor, that ruins the story.

i just felt/feel BM was a story that didn't need to be told.  I mean BW had a great ending.  It would be like having the decepticons regain power and attack the autobots after rebirth.. you know the end.

Thankfully the new Beast Wars comic book can show us what could have been, in terms of a sequel to Beast Wars.

You'd enjoy BM a lot more if you could just watch it as its own show and not merely as a continuation of BW. The show wasn't intended to be Beast Wars Redux, so of course it's going to fail if it's interpreted on that level. In order to appreciate BM you have to watch it in the right context.

IMO, they didn't go far enough in designing the technorganic material.  They could have made it look a lot better than they did and I believe this is one point that sticks a lot of people.  The end result was a lot more 'green' than 'tech'.

Even though they used the exact same characters from Beast Wars and ask us to assume that everyone somehow ended up on Cybertron.

so i'm not supposed to watch the sequal to BW as the sequal to BW?....[/hutner moment]

:tflaugh i'm not trying to be obtuse... but saying it isn't a continuation of BW is like saying that Spiderman 2 isn't a sequel to spiderman even though it has the same characters from teh first movie, plus flashbacks to it...

I guess I fail to see how it doesn't work after Beast Wars. :tfhuh
