Galaxy Force & Cybertron Differences

Recommended Posts

There are some paint app differences on Soundwave. You can see them pretty clearly in some of the galleries that have been done. Also Scrapmetal/Rumble has different colors in GF vs. Cyb (ie Cyb is just red while GF has red, blue and yellow versions).

If you're going for show-accuracy, you're pretty much going to have to get GF versions for everyone, perhaps minus:

- GF-Exillion/Cyb-HotShot: identical GF/Cyb version, save for the Cyb version having a screw (more durable) than the GF version's pin (less durable) at the Accel Wings.

- GF-FirstAid/GF-Redalert: I'm not 100% sure on this, but the Cyb version has a more paint apps and a more show-accurate blue plastic.

- GF-MasterMegatron/Cyb-Megatron: Cyb version has a darker blue which is nicer, but I think he's missing some paint apps.

- GF-Saidow/Cyb-Backstop: different shades of plastic on both, not sure which one is show-accurate (probably the Takara version, but I could be wrong on that).

There might be a few more where the differences are negligeable between the Takara and the Hasbro versions, but those elude me at the moment...

why does hasbro skimp on the paint apps?  can't be that expensive

I think that if you were to buy one of each series, and combine the leg part of Cyb ver. to the body of GF ver. then you'll have a show accurate one.  But then who wants a Show Accurate Saidos/Backstop?

FreedomGundam is right, Galaxy Force all the way if you want show-like toys.

Galaxy Convoy also has nicer and more showlike colours than Optimus Prime. I'd recommend checking out Remy's pics, as he often does comparative shots between the Hasbro and Takara figures.

The electronics on GF Vector Prime are rather scratchy sounding, apparently the Cybertron version resolved this.

GF toys cost more in general than their Hasbro counterparts. Plus retailers push Hasbro to get multiple toys in one case assortment which means they have to reduce price/production cost sometimes.

i understand that, hence they use cheaper products, but seriously, how much does a little paint cost?  especialy when you take into account the massive amounts purchased.

Actually, its GF megatron that missing paint, in its nose.

Jetfire is missing paint in his upper legs and some detail on the back of the plane and wings.

Sideways and Wing Saber have chrome

Optimus Prime is missing the yellow lights , silver between the red things from his legs, His leg cannons also have less red than the GF version.

I'll post more later.

A couple more that I checked up on.

- Cyb-Clocker has silver pipes (much nicer), whereas GF-Skids has white pipes (not so nice).  However, the white paint on Cyb-Clocker's is butt-ugly.

- GF-Autovolt has some extra apps of gold paint on his arms and legs that Cyb-Crosswise doesn't have.
