Galaxy Force & Cybertron Differences

Recommended Posts

Con: (again with the Prime combos) Ligerjack was lame-ified when tak added the combination gimmick.

The combination gimmick was intended from the very start, the arm mode very much present in Hasbro's design sketches, looking very much like the show model.  In fact, a figure was actually apparently prototyped with that specific design in mind, and looked pretty damned good from the limited information we have.  But for whatever reason, the design was neutered into that hideous mess of an arm, while the show retained the original design (but the 'bot and Liger modes in the show reflect the toy, not the prototype.  Noteable differences being that the proto only had two claws on each arm - to form the four-clawed Liger arm, instead of the stupid looking six-clawed thing - and an extra set of similar flip-out claws on the shoulders.  And the Liger mode had hoses that went between the upper and lower forelimbs).

When I finally get my Leobreaker, I'm going to do my darndest to kitbash a show-accurate arm transformation for him, fold-out fingers and all.

You're forgetting two more issues:

Pro: This Megatron is bigger than ever - I think he's the biggest Megatron to date.

Con: Another Megatron/Galvatron repaint, although this is the best one so far and the only one that has a better colour scheme than its predecessor.

Pro: Actual Upgrades. I am actually excited to see the Vanguard Team, although the choices of characters could have been better or that the Decepticons should get their version of the Vanguard Team, too.

Con: More lame-ass upgrades for Optimus Prime, i.e. Leobreaker, Sonic Convoy/Wing Saber, et cetera. It only further reinforces the fact that Optimus Prime is a wimp (true) and can't take on Megatron without help.

Oh, just like Megs couldn't take on ANYONE unless he's merged with Unicron or his lackeys step in for him...

Look, you either buy the toy cuz you love the toy itself or because of the character. So what how big Megs is? Size doesn't always justify a great bot, look at E-Omega, plain garbage!

Virtually all the toys I have from the current line are Galaxy Force, with the exception of Land Bullet.

I have noticed there are some slight variations (like Prime) between Galaxy Force and Cybertron. Are there any differences between Ligerjack and Leobreaker that are worth mentioning?

I picked him up at Wal-Mart for $12, figured I couldn't pass it up.

Leobreaker has a brown mane and a bit less white paint on his abs (only the round parts are painted, whereas Liger Jack's paint goes all the way to the waistline), whereas Liger Jack has a more golden mane.

Hey thanks, I knew somone had the answer!

The color is not that drastic to me, so I'll until Ligerjack gets dirt cheap before I buy him.

Given the fact that Cybertron figures are cheaper to get than Galaxy Force, I usually go with Cybertron.  However, is there any figure in the Cybertron line that has a really different colour scheme that you would definitely go for GF?  Vector Prime is the only figure in my mind that the Galaxy Force version has a better colour scheme.

Sorry if someone has already discussed this before.

Galaxyforce Starscream. since he is in the show color scheme.

Galaxyforce Saidos- far different color scheme from Backstop.

GF Megatron- though the colors are slightly different.

The GF version of Brakedown is a black instead of brown

GF Galaxy Convoy- since he has the painted key  :thumb

Can't really think of more at this time.

Cybertron-cheaper, packaging is in English, I can drive up the street and pick them up straight off the shelf and not pay for shipping.
