Seriously, what's not to like about the toy??

Cool link/thread. Very informative. :thumb Thanks for sharing.

Reguarding Optimus Prime, I have the Hasbro variation. There's no way I can spring for Takaras even if it slightly better and has more paint aps. Looking at the comparison pics though none of the missing paint aps are anything major and don't really detract from tthe toy in any way. The only ones I wish they would have kept are the rear wheels ans cab lights.

Having Prime for the better of the past month I have to honestly say he is deffinitely on of the better OP releases since Rid. Probably the only. Though Optimus is retailed as Leader class, without his armour and twin BFGs he stands about the same height as any Ultra classed figure. I only discovered this in the past week after I removed his accessory pack for the first time since displaying him and stood him next to Jetfire. Surprisingly Optimus displays just fine and looks characteristically even with all the other bots. Also I like the oversized gun Hasbro gave himand the fact he can hold it in any given pose without worry of it dropping.Hasbro not only took the time to give Optimus closing fingers but also molded pegs in either side of the gun's handle which match up with small holes inside both hands to give the gun extra support. It's little details and considerations like this which make Optimus easily worth the money. On a secondary note I wish they would've done sonething similar with 20th OPs hands and guns.

Reguarding the detachable wings. When I first heard Hasbro was going to do this I misunderstood it thinking they were refering to the whole side of the trailer with the wheels since the whole thing becomes a wing in Optimus's super mode as well as alt flight mode.As everyone already knows that whole section is pinned in place it's the smaller wings upfront which are detachable. If you can call them that. They're an absolut Starscream to get on but once they're on, they're solid and going nowhere unless you intentionally rip them off. As for falls, unless it's a really hard landing I can't see them snapping off but instead breaking or at the very least putting stress marks in the plastic.

Oh and though an unpainted cyberkey doesn't bother me much it really annoys me to no end why Hasbro would bother painting the majority of them and not not all. Especially in cases like Optimus, and Vector who have by far the coolest ones of any.

Ah well that's enough from me. Hope you thouroghly enjoy this TF as much as I have.

Later :wave

I agree. The only reason I got the GF version in the first place was because I couldn't hold out for the Cybertron release.

Awesome mini review. I will definitely get the Cybertron version. I can't see paying any more for the few differances in paint apps.

Thanks Loki!

Maybe I am scared I will like him.  :tflaugh

It's a 'Gateway toy'  Will probably lead to you covetting most of the rest of the line.  :tfevil

It's a 'Gateway toy'  Will probably lead to you covetting most of the rest of the line.  :tfevil

I thought the "Gateway toys" in this line are toys like Landmine, Clocker, Red alert, and Armorhide?  I mean, no offense to Prime, but I find his robotmode-centric design a bit unappealing.  His truck mode is as passable as Megatron's car.

And would it have killed Takara to push a little extra cash for a flap so I don't see the back of Prime's head in vehicle mode?  That blue square breaks up everything.

Thank you for the thread merge  :clap . Prehaps that is what i should have done from the beginning  :tdown ....and just summerized everything...sorry about that.

Anyhow,  in keeping with the context of this thread...and anyone searching for the differences between these figures...l just thought i'd this link to this thread:

picture comparisons of the figures and more.

Takara toys are more expensive not because of the quality of the materials but only because you need to import them + paint detailing.

Okay every comment is either imo or heard from a number of people.

Pro: I have considered buying every figure. This line has taught me to not pass judgement before looking at one of Remy's galleries first. Example: Cybertron Ransack.

Con: Force Chips. Although I don't really mind them, they do get kind of annoying when they slip out or get lost.

Pro: Almost every fig has great articulation, even the ones who don't have better articulation than a lot of Armada figs. Example: Cyb Scattorshot.

Con: Cybertron the show is kind of meh, and Galaxy Force is kind of meh + 1. Although they are getting better, as the plot thickens, the first eps are never going to bring in new fans.

Pro: Cybertron Optimus Prime/ Galaxy Convoy

Con: Cybertron Vector Prime (no offense to Galaxy Force Vector Prime)

Pro: Very few repaints, many new figs.

Con: Quality control issues. Examples: Hotshot's wings, Dirtboss' gimmick, etc.

Pro: Better than Energon

Con: About the same or worse than RID, only time will tell.

You're forgetting two more issues:

Pro: This Megatron is bigger than ever - I think he's the biggest Megatron to date.

Con: Another Megatron/Galvatron repaint, although this is the best one so far and the only one that has a better colour scheme than its predecessor.

Pro: Actual Upgrades. I am actually excited to see the Vanguard Team, although the choices of characters could have been better or that the Decepticons should get their version of the Vanguard Team, too.

Con: More lame-ass upgrades for Optimus Prime, i.e. Leobreaker, Sonic Convoy/Wing Saber, et cetera. It only further reinforces the fact that Optimus Prime is a wimp (true) and can't take on Megatron without help.

True so true,

Here's some more:

Pro: The US exclusives don't suck as much as the ones from energon.

Con: (again with the Prime combos) Ligerjack was lame-ified when tak added the combination gimmick.
