I will definitly be buying this on as a BT, and will more then likely also getting whatever repaint that follows.

Best Color scheme for mirage would be Blue with White stripes

the repaint should be

Black with red stripes and a big racing number on the side.

It is a racecar, it's just the version that consumers can purchase.  Ford has been racing the GT in the LeMans race for about forty years.

I guess it's more accurate to say it was a racecar.

The original Ford GT40 was raced (and won) at LeMans from 1966-1969.  The current car is an updated homage (while the lines are very close to the original GT40, they're not the same - the GT is slightly larger).  Ford isn't currently racing the car - although a modified version would be eligible for some of the GT racing series (although it's more likely Ford would race the Mustang if they were to compete in these series).

Ironically, Ford wanted to name this new car the GT40 but guess what - they lost the trademark!

PS:  I kind of hope that Mirage gets the paint job honoring the LeMans wins.

so its just me who dislikes him. maybe its poor posing like prowl had but IMO the chest looks poor and the arms are way 2 thin and hes also kibble-tastic. i do like the head tho and of corse the alt mode rocks.

*ducks from incoming flaming*

blitz you make good points, but tracks and the rest of the vetts are full of kibble, and hs2g have thin arms and legs, but those just aren't enough to make me not like this, to me he just screams the best alt yet.....of course that's only because meister/jazz isn't that proto porsche then mirage would be the 2nd best  :thumb

(1st-2nd best pics only decision, subject to change

upon painted protos, and or fig being held in hand)

Can we save that for the repaint? I like my Mirages in blue and white yurithumb.gif

what about orange and green tugboats??

oh wait....

A Ford GT now we're talking.

true tracks has kibble 2 but with a little thoght you can move it around to look like armour mirage how ever looks like a teenage mutant ninja turtal shell with a car crash for a torso

It just occurred to me that the Ford GT mold has the potential to withstand quite a few recolors:

(1) Blue/White - G1 Mirage's traditional colors.

(2) LeMans Colors - G1 Mirage's traditional colors WERE just the colors of the actual racing car, so there's a logic to this since it's also the actual colors of the racing car like BT/Alt Smokescreen's WRC colors.

(3) Red/Orange/Yellow - The shape could easily double for Hot Rod with a headsculpt.

(4) Hot Shot Colors - Wouldn't even need to retool if there's a Hot Rod head sculpt.

(5) Yellow/Black - If people accept Mirage's evolution into this shape, then it could work for Drag Strip who was also an F1, which gives them more potential than a strict F1 mold would.  And it's probably preferable since a major auto manufacturer has more to gain from licensing/advertising than an F1 team.

(6) ??/?? - Ford may have its own favored color scheme for this model that fits none of the above and could insist on having a separate recolor for that alone like with the red Meister and yellow Tracks.

Of course, while these are all possibilities with merit, Hasbro isn't likely to do ALL of them without realizing that they'd look like tools.

Ironically, Ford wanted to name this new car the GT40 but guess what - they lost the trademark!

It's for the better anyways ... the GT stands like 44" tall so it'd be a misnomer.
