Alternators Mirage

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to opne a thread just to discuss this fig aloen.

I'd like to say that this is unequivocally my favorite already.

From the head sculpt, to the body design and articulation, to the choice of car.

I don't wanna somehow jinx it, but it seems almost perfect.

Agreed, this is one awsome looking alt, even though I know what the car mode looks like, I cant wait to see pics of it.

Here is to hoping that the rest of the announced alts are just as cool (I know everyone is going to say something about Ironprime, well there is already a thread about that).

I'm kind of miffed, and have to agree with my friend Rodimus VTS, he and I have become good buds, that while talk of a truck alt has been in the works, somebody probably did rip off his general ideas and turned it into Prime.  I mean, it's Rodimus Prime for his alt.  And they turn it into Optimus Prime.  We already have 20th Anni/MP Prime, why make him an Alt.

Back to Mirage(Prime has like 3 threads already). He does look to be the most articulated of the current alts. The choice of car is excellent. Lets see Mirage get by unnoticed now. He looks like Cyb Hotshot as was stated before.

Mirage just looks fantastic. I'll be anxiously awaiting pics of the painted version.

Yeah, I'd actually imagined/dreamt/hoped for something like the current Williams team F1 racer as a BT/Alt Mirage, but the GT's sleek lines fit Mirage's personality quite well and the model itself is really nice looking on its own.  They're very likely giving Mirage his landmark color scheme.  I don't care that much about his transformation, but a bot mode that holds his proportions and general look would be icing on the cake, so I'm pretty much sold already.

I think his bot mode would look even better and more G1 reminiscent if his chest section included the center portion of the front grill (where did that part go anyway?), while keeping the headlights on the shoulders as they have it.

This looks to be one of the best TF figures to come out in a long time.

Mirage, if it is executed the way it should be, could epitomize the Alt/BT idea. A highly detailed, highly articulated, highly realistic G1 homage is what the line is supposed to be about. While most of the otherAlts/BTs have come pretty close to that (Tracks possibly being the closest to these ideals, but not the best overall Alt/BT), Mirage should shape up to be the best so far.

All that, plus the GT is just a damn awesome sports car. I like most of the other Alt/BTs, but the cars are a little boring at times. The GT is just a fun car to have as a TF.

Great choice on the alt mode and excellent execution of the bot mode. I can't wait to get this baby.

As a "curb your enthusiasm" statement, IMO unpainted protos ALWAYS look more detailed etc. than the final figure. Remember that MP Convoy proto? The first time I saw him painted I was actually disappointed.

That being said, Mirage DOES look totally kickass. Really top-notch.

I have to agree with pretty much everything that has been said here. Mirage looks great, some pretty decent articulation by the looks of it and from what I've read the paint scheme should work perfectly on him.

The only thing I'm waiting to hear/read is someone complaining that he's ANOTHER hood/chest-former. LOL

(As for they guy that was wondering about Alt Prime, apparently the Prime part of that alt is because of Takara and Japan not having any full-size American trucks. Although Hasbro could always redo the head and make him Ironhide here in N.A.)

Um, the Alt Ram rumors have been flying almost since the birth of the line, including claims of a prototype.  I highly doubt there was any ripping off going on here.  It's kind of like someone complaining that they're releasing a yellow Viper named Sunstreaker after seeing someone's Dead End kitbash.

We already have 20th Anni/MP Prime, why make him an Alt.

Because 20th Prime is not an Alt.  He may "fit" in some people's minds (if you ignore the scale and stylistic differences), and that's fine, but 20th Prime is not an Alternator.

[on topic] Aside from the head, Mirage looks like a home run to me.  Here's hoping they don't drop the ball by going banana Tracks or Alt Wheeljack and using "official" colors as opposed to the blue and white G1 theme.

This looks to be one of the best TF figures to come out in a long time.
