G1 vs New Stuff

Recommended Posts

it wasn't continued "after" Rebirth. The Japanese Headmaster series takes place "in place" of Rebirth, and the other Japanese series continue after that.

I thought 'Rebirth' took place instead of 'The Return of Optimus Prime' in Japan?

Wow I didnt think that my little issue would garner so much attention. Thanks all!

The bottom line for me is that G1 is the best of the group, regardless about storylines and animation. Remember everyone the G1 line was first put into production in 1983 and released in 1984. That is 20 years ago! I would hope that in 20 years that the animation and storylines would get better and not just with Transformers but any animated series!

Well, it would... if we could get off of this idea that "money is the most important thing in life", and stop trying to screw everyone else over the name of "getting more money at the expense of all else".

As long as THAT is the prevailing ideology, we will continue to be given low-quality crap. :tftounge

Well I dont think that G1 was all that crap though.

I admit the animation is season 3 wasnt great but overall G1 was the best series of all Transfomers lines in my opinion. :tfgrin

Well, this is my 1st post ever and here it goes I was just wondering if anyone has seen the earlyer japanese TV series if those are worth watching. I have that super god jinrai(i think thats how u spell it) or power master optimus prime and I know hes from one of those japanese series. Just curious of what his deal is. :beer thanx

I'm not 100 percent positive on this, but Ginrai is actually a robot drone made to be a replica of Prime because the trailer he uses was originally designed for Optimus. The little guy who turns into the engine is actually controlling Ginrai. I THINK. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

He's an awesome, toy isn't he? :thumb

I think all the new shows, Beast Wars,Beast Machines,RID,Armada and Energon all suck!

I prefer G1 over all of these versions of Transformers.

Its too bad that the creators of the new series didnt continue the story after Rebirth! That would have been interesting.

:wtf I must say G1 opened up my imagination more than any other cartoon (i.e. GiJoe, HeMan, etc.) Of course after twenty years some of my imagination has turned to crap but I still find myself enjoying the old shows. If I get the new stuff I'll problably enjoy that just as much...well...except for those stupid kids (I'd like to see Optimus shoot one out his blaster!) :tflaugh

After finally getting ahold of a bunch of BW episodes, I gotta say, its a better cartoon. Dont get me wrong, I love G1 more than anything else I watched as a kid, but without the nostalgia goggles on , its just not as great. Yeah the characters are neat, but they arent nearly as deep as the BW chars. G1 will always hold a place in my memories, but its not the best.

I have to agree with Viktor V. Without the nostalgia goggles G1 just isn't that good of a cartoon. There are some good episodes that I like to watch, but I think that Beast Wars is the better cartoon.

Well this is my first post on this forum, so here's hoping I don't stick my foot in my mouth... :tflaugh

I'm a die-hard G1 fan, but I have to admit as a cartoon series, Beast Wars was better. Beast Machines was horrid, and don't even get my started on Armada/Energon. Whoever came up with Transformers: Pokemon needs to be lynched.

The Marvel G1 comic series had a great beginning and great end. The middle went the way of the TV show (childish plots, no attention to detail or continuity, mindless pandering to the toy line) but found its way again thanks to Simon Furman (who writes Dreamwave's TF: The War Within limited series now) in time to be cancelled.

DW's new comic is based loosely off concepts from the cartoon. I've read the live-action movie is going to be based more off Marvels' storyline. Its enough to make my head hurt. :)

transformers pokemon :tflaugh you hit the nail on the head with that one.
