G1 vs New Stuff

Recommended Posts

Beast Wars is my favorite series. G1 will always have a special place in my heart, but the storyline was almost the same level as RiD. The things I miss tho were how Gen 1 actually had large scale armies of characters, whereas BW only had a crew of about 7 at a time on each side

We're opposites than. I love the new line of Energon, the toys are designed better and they look like they weren't just thrown together unlike some of the older transformers :fire :mwahaha :fire :mwahaha

I was thinking about that too, but I figure that the smaller cast size is what really allowed for the increased character growth and development. Plus they introduced enough new characters over the course of the three seasons to keep it interesting.

G1=50/50 story lines, consistently good voice acting, lots of characters with pretty good character development (given the amount of characters), many animation errors. Human characters had actual purposes.

BW=Great storyline with killer sub plots, good voice acting, limited cast, great character development, no humans (closest we got was apes), no animation errors.

Energon=Good storyline, good character development (has potential to be great), the actual dialogue could be better if it wasn't dubbed (no having to announce attacks, transformations, etc..), voice acting is good with most characters, but others need improvement, Kicker is actually useful and, most importantly - this show made me love Tidal Wave. Tidal Wave...Tidal Wave...

To me, all of these shows share the best TF series slot. I'll also give some props to Armada for getting the plot rolling, but Armada really would've been better if the kids appearances and dialogue had been toned down and the writers improved the writing/plot.

TF G1 wins my vote hands down! The rest are just pretenders in my book. G1 is where it all started and should have remained that way but with new story lines and so fourth. Give me g1 Optimus Prime, Starscream, Megatron, Bluestreak ect anyday.

All the series had their good points and bad. My opinion: the best series is what YOu think is the best. there really isn't a right or wrong answer. (unless they made an action masters series. THAT we could all agree would suck! :D)

I love G1 the most and always will, I cant really say that I like energon. It comes at 3:30 in the morning here, so i never get to watch it. I have seen it twice and those episodes were only so so. On a good note, i got the e-megatron and he is so bad ass. I also got optimus prime with him and i regret it. he reminds me of a mega zord. they ruined optimus prime in energon. the only thing that holds me back from energon is that the characters look a little to outrageous. g1 is the king of transformers.

Grand Convoy is Much better.

The thing that holds G1 over all others for me is that nobody changed sides. An Autobot was an Autobot and Decepticon a Decepticon. They may have worked together for a common goal from time to time but for the most part there was no crossing the line. A decepticon would never get friendly with a human or Autobot unless he had another motive. That is Evil. G1 Op was far superior because he was a true leader, argue all you want about it but no Autobot would question his command. Hell, every other Optimus to follow tried to clone what he stood for but none ever managed. That's not saying they were bad, just second to him. Alot of TF back history was almost never a part of any other series but G1, that gives more depth to the story. Sombody said earlier that G1 reset every episode but so did BW until they tied in to the G1 story. Then it got very interesting for me. The tie-in and the transmetals turned that show around, couldn't miss an episode. And I've faithfully watched every series of TF but none surpass G1.

P.S. There is a big difference between "kiddie humour" and stupid one liners. If you have an example of kiddie humour in G1 please post it. Real kiddie humour, not "You Decepticreep" or "Over-size tin can"

That's not entirely true. After they found the Alien ruins early in Season 1, it remained a constant theme through out the series. Dinobot changed sides in the first episode and stayed there, unlike Octane who changed sides for a single episode for no apparent reason, and then was promptly forgotten about in his next appearance.
