G1 vs New Stuff

Recommended Posts

If it is finished, then they need to release that on DVD too.  Cartoon Network left off with Megabyte getting out of the Web and causing all kinds of havoc.  They really left us hanging there.

I think it was on FOX Kids. If so, you can probably thank them for dropping the series. They're famous for dumping their good shows. *shrug*

We canucks watched it on YTV =)

Are you talking about before it went to Cartoon Network? Cuz it was on ABC back then, and they only went as far as season 2. Cartoon Network picked it up with season 3.

I am always going to be a G1 80's fan to the end. i do realize that there are about a million animation mistakes, but that is what makes the show a "original" and, without G1, there wouldn't be Energon or any of those other 'spinoffs"

well said. It's a no brainer that you gotta give props to G1, whether you liked it or thought it was corny. Without it, you wouldn't have whatever show you think is better, be it Beast Wars or whatever.

I have only seen limited amounts of the new cartoons, so I can't make a fair assesment as to what's better, but I'll always love G-1 the most because it's the show I grew up with. It is cheesy, corny at times, but it's still a classic and so much fun to watch :)

Well this is my first post on this forum, so here's hoping I don't stick my foot in my mouth... :tflaugh

I'm a die-hard G1 fan, but I have to admit as a cartoon series, Beast Wars was better. Beast Machines was horrid, and don't even get my started on Armada/Energon. Whoever came up with Transformers: Pokemon needs to be lynched.

The Marvel G1 comic series had a great beginning and great end. The middle went the way of the TV show (childish plots, no attention to detail or continuity, mindless pandering to the toy line) but found its way again thanks to Simon Furman (who writes Dreamwave's TF: The War Within limited series now) in time to be cancelled.

DW's new comic is based loosely off concepts from the cartoon. I've read the live-action movie is going to be based more off Marvels' storyline. Its enough to make my head hurt. :)

to be honest if the new stuff was better, why would the old stuff be getting reissued.

i doubt in 20 years energon will be a reissue

g-1 was originally created in america, but drawn in japan. the only fully japanees tf show that has shown in the states was RiD, as far as i know Armada and energon were created cooperatively in Japan and America. i could be wrong though.

plus i havent heard or a fourth season of reboot, i loved that show, especially all the homages that were payed to thousands of other things when they were in the "games", like one episode they were in a game and enzo was dressed like micheal jackson from thriller, dot was elvira, and they were being chased by ash from evil dead II. that had to be my favorite, but thats just because im a huge evil dead fan, hail to the chin baby

oh yeah

G1 all the way, in terms of animation, i hate cell shading, and stories, plus spike was a thousand times less annoying than koji from RiD, and the kids from Armada, plus that new kid Kicker(why do they choose stupid names for these kids) from energon is starting to piss me off too. at least spike could be somewhat helpful to the auto bots seeing as he way a mechanic and all, and chip was a computer genius, and carly was good with electronics, althought daniel was pretty much completely worthless . but post G1 all the shows have started off slow, but except for Rid they did come around in the end and the stories did improve.

i say we start a fan created alternators/binaltech comic or webshow, ne one out there good with animation or writing, i would be willing to do writing for it. i mean who better to create a tf continutiy than those who know more about it than ne 1 else?

Just a thought for yall

The fact is the G1 cartoon is much better than most of the cartoons out there now, thats includes armada and well from what i have seen of the second episode of energon looks like its better than that one too.

The stories of most of the episodes in the G1 cartoon where rather weak...but u know what who cares, it was not the stories that made G1 great it was the characters that made that show great. From optimus prime to megatron....from starscream to jazz, they were all cool in their own way.

Armada has "asses" such as demolisher and even more offensive cyclonus :redface one has to wonder what the producers of armada where thinking when they choose that actor to do cyclonus's voice and what they were thinking when they choose to have cyclonus in energon.

Well thats my rant....take it easy people. :thumb
