G1 vs New Stuff

Recommended Posts

I've seen every remake of Transformers and none compare to G1. The characters are easier to relate to. In BW they tried to put in to much kiddie humour. BM was just plain bad robot designs(my opinion). RID was a horrible cartoon all around but the toys were good. I've never seen or would believe the pred/decepticons could lose so many battles even against the most basic Autobots. Eg. the whole decep/pred army against the brothers"super mode". TF Armada was ruined by annoying kids and whining robots(Hot Shot). Decepticons that arn't very serious are also a downfall (Cyclonus, Demolisher). TF Energon carries over the whining robot theme with Ironhide."you take that back". Sick. The most redeeming Energon traits are an awsome new Megatron, a powerful decepticon army who are achieving victories, an excellent new starscream, and nice animation. Toys are good too except for a hiddeous Optimus. What MOST of these new TF lack is a look of a realistic vehicle, and the repaints are a lazy way of ripping people off. If the repaints were different characters then it'd be OK. G1 did have it's drawbacks like "you tin can" and "oversize garbage can". Plus most of the toys had little movement and sometimes looked nothing like the TV character. But the biggest reason I favour G1 is cause I can pop in the DVD,relax, and forget about all my troubles, makes me feel like a kid again.

I like the characters of G1 better, though I hate the bad animation (which btw was worse then of several other cartoons at that same time). Of the new series I like the quality better, especially of Energon. Beast wars I really didn't like in terms of animation, the CG just didn't look good in my view, more so in Beast Machines. RID was Transformers made into a series for 5 year olds. Armada was nice, but lacked the variety that G1 had.

All in all I hope that maybe one day they will remake G1, preferably the way that Energon was made. With improved characters like Takara has already shown possible with the Masterpiece and with Binaltech.

g1 for me. mainly as the tf universe seemed so much bigger every ep they went to a new world and such but with the newer one its all on earth or cybertron. also there seemed to be more TF's in g1 not just 10 or so a team like RiD and armada

G1, of course. BTW, didi anyone ever wonder if the enemy ever took advantage of their foe yelling what their attack was going to be? Imagine: Megatron yells "FUSION CANNON", for example, and Optimus has enough time to jump out of the way. (I know this never happened in g1, but it's an illustration of a point.) Now imagine if we really did that in a war: it would be silly. Of course, at the point transformers is at right now, they should all yell "MONEY!!" before doing anything. After all, that's what they're making for Has/Tak. (joke. please don't start in on me!)

Energon is my favorite series. I like the toys(Grand Convoy is my fav) and abaslutly LOVE the plot.

P.S. Did anyone actuly WATCH RID? It got good near the end when Brave Max showed up,

Something I have to add is RID toys looked awsome in robot and vehicle mode(Autobot brothers) but by the time you transform the suckers, the Decepticons would have emptied there clips on ya. If you played like the show depicts, they probably wouldn't have hit anything anywho

I'd like to see a new G1 show where they revise and advance the original storyline. And use as many of the original voice actors as they can. That would be cool.

Ok... my turn ha ha

Well Ok im going to say this, I grew up with G1 hell most of us did, and at the time we thought it was perhaps the most awsomething we had ever seen. But now... I look back and I say to myself wtf!? I just bought the first season and well I was somewhat disapointed. G1 just wasnt the same, it was corny stupid... and well Megatron was a total Idiot and however he got control of cyberton in the movie god only knows.

But still I think most people go and say its the best because it is what we grew up with but im going to step out of the box and say it is inferior to the newer shows well... accept for Armada and RID but they seemed to get better by their ends. But all in all those of you that say Beast Wars suck, whats up with that? I mean... did you even watch more than one or maybe two episodes? To actually see how great of a story it was and the awsome character development actually try sitting down and watching it instead of just judging it. In my soul opinion Beast Wars reigns supreme in the transformers Universe...

but once again thats just my opinion and well we are all entitled to our own.

Thats all, and thank you for your time

I've seen every remake of Transformers and none compare to G1. The characters are easier to relate to. In BW they tried to put in to much kiddie humour.

Did we both watch the same series?!?

Beast Wars was by far one of the most serious TF shows I've ever seen (the only one that's even more serious would be BM). The characters all have depth that none of the G1 stereotypes ever even came close to. For example: When Optimus Prime dies in TF:TM, kids cried because he was the character they grew up with. When Dinobot died in "Code of Hero", adults cry because he was a character written in a way so they actually cared for him.

BW had an ongoing storyline. G1 had the "scheme of the week". BW had no reset button hit after every episode. BW didn't contradict itself twenty times within the same episode.

G1 had about three our four episodes I can still enjoy without the nostalgia goggles on. BW had only one or two episodes I can't stand at all.

With G1, you notice that it was just another kid's cartoon for the creators. With BW, you actually notice how much fun everyone involved had creating the show.

G1Mmegatron was an idiot. BW Megatron was a great villain who, even when he failed, still seemed to have another trick up his sleeve.

I'm pretty sure that, ten or twenty years down the road, I might still remember G1 as a series I grew up with. But I'm pretty damn sure I will still remember BW because it was actually a good show.

I don't see why you had to top this topic, considering this "I only likz G1 dood!" kinda attitude is always what hurts a fandom, and usually comes from idiots who SAW a new toy in Wal-mart and felt compelled to come to a forum and preach to us about how we're all idiots and they're better for having watched G1 20 years ago.

WE DONT CARE...

I think your precious G1 is outdated and is one of the major CAUSES of ADD among future generations...Energon is much more coherent with a stronger plot and lots of drama and character development. You can argue all you want, but no matter how hard you try, G1 purist, you aren't a part of this fandom...you're a hinderence.
