Toys R US G1 prices

Recommended Posts

I have been waiting and buying on Ebay. Specifically there are two sellers there getting TRU exclusives and selling them much cheaper than TRU. TRU is gouging at the Transformer collector and fandom. I really can't see the reissues lasting much longer at this rate. My TRU has a shelf full of them to prove it.

I agree. They would definitely sell more if the prices would come down. It's the most obvious answer, but it's apparently the answer TRU and/or Hasbro refuse to consider. They're killing this line with their prices.

i just wonder, if TRU decided to scrap the reissue line because of lack of sales, would hasbro then consider opening up the line to walmart and/or other stores?

we can hope! :wtf

i doubt it...you gotta remember on ething..when these figures first came out..the first 3 shipments sold out in days! so they are selling. hell i just sold 4 reissues yesterday. they still sell just very slowly. i honestly dont see hasbro giving the reissues to walmart

I told a guy who worked there, and he said they have been having some shoplifting probs.

and one of the big things stolen were TF re-releases.

About half of the TRUs in my area have the reissues in those plastic clamshell things.

The only ones that seem to sell really well from the later series are the other Seeker jets.

Perhaps if they actually released some decent figures. The earlier series had all the cool ones anyway. Do that many people care about Grapple, Hoist, Inferno, etc?

Where are all the cool decepticons?

I'd like to see Soundwave, Megatron, the cassettes, Omega Supreme (!), Jetfire, etc..

Hey, now.. Grapple was one of my first TF's back in the 80s.. :)

Soon, I'll be grabbing Tracks.. *sigh*

But there really is -no- reason for something like Tracks to be $30, other than TRU can, simply because they're the only ones who get to sell the damned things. :tfmad

As long as the TRU reissues stay at those prices I will never buy any,it's just riduclious that a

g1 reissue wou cost the same as and energon ultra.

I realize that most of you don't factor in that the reissues are made of die-cast, which is more expensive. That, and being a TRU exclusive, is why they are expensive. Those cars like Jazz cost average $9.99 in the eigthys, but you must factor in inflation.

The reason why I don't think they are moving fast, is

1. It is geared toword collectors like us, who are now in our 20s and 30s, who remember them from cartoons and such in our childhood. So we are the ONLY ones buying them. Energon out sells Reissues cuz little kidz AND us are buying them, but kidz are not buying the reissues cuz they don't know who Jazz is for example. They've only been watching the Energon cartoons.

2. The Takara reissues came out earlier than Hasbros, thus most of us already had them.

3. The TRU reissues suck. I mean the missiles and stuff are altered and in some cases don't function. How can it be a "reissue" if it is not true to the original?

Fredrick Feltman from alt.toys.transformers claims that all G1 reissues EXCEPT for the most recent ones (Rodimus, Dirge, Smokescreen, Grapple) will go on sale starting on the 28th. They will be marked down to $19.99

Hope it turns out to be true, although Rodimus Prime is the only one I want, unfortunately. I'll probably try to find a deal on eBay.
