I too was mostly disappointed by Shockwave's size, but I think of it this way, my collection is more or less expanded G1, which if I ever decided to write a fan-fic would have all these characters coming together, plucked from different universes and time periods. This Shockwave to me us how I'd see Shockwave right when he was recruited into Decepticon ranks, before he upgraded his body. He was a scientist so his initial alt mode would reasonably have been some sort of survey ship, which would have been retrofitted into a gunship after signing up with the Decepticons, and would also explain his lack of a gun arm (minus pegging the gun onto the toys arm). Naturally he would've possessed a smaller body since for his initial profession he would not have needed the physical power most incarnations of him possessed until he began to challenge Megs for leadership.

That's cool and all, but I don't use fan fiction to justify my purchases.

Well just remember the mark up is the retailer, Hasbro is selling these for $11.99 on HTS.

and after tax and shipping costs...closer to $20.

And that is why when I buy from HTS, I will buy at least 5 figures to offset the shipping, unless they are doing free shipping which is once in a blue moon, I do the same with TRU's website

Goktimus, I think most of everybody's issue is that Hasbro is charging more, but you're getting less. Compare War for Cybertron Optimus Prime to the Fall of Cybertron version. The WFC version is bigger, at least twice as complex and has more paint apps. All of that for $9.99 in most U.S. areas. FOC Prime is a good figure, but not worth the $15 they're charging for it. Like a lot of people have already said, I don't mind paying more (I'll probably buy less figures because of the increase), but I want to feel like I'm getting my money's worth.

As far as Deluxes are concerned, we've been paying $25-30 for them for years now; probably since after Beast Wars/Machines -- so from RiD or Armadaverse onwards we've been paying this price for Deluxes. I agree that getting less sucks, but the prices of Deluxes here isn't going up. Well, it has at Myer ($35), but I don't buy TFs from there unless I can't find it anywhere else and it's on sale. (-_-) The one thing that did bug me was the price of the Commander Class... they're smaller than Scouts which retailed for $15, yet they're $3-5 more expensive! (>_>) That was stupid. I'm definitely not fond of paying the same price for less... but we're not paying more for less here atm <knock.on.wood>

Well, after visiting Toys R Us and Target today, I have this feeling that FoC Optimus and Jazz are going to become the new shelf warmers!!

TRU and HTS are both doing spend $50 and get free shipping by the way. And Fatherdeth, I would say say you are correct, especially with FOC Optimus, I will be waiting for sales online for my figures now, unless I can do my usual lower price argument at Walmart

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to go visit these sites right now. I'm about to just start doing my shopping online as well.

I'm sure they'll start to move a bit better once the video game is out.

Yeah, and it could also be that since they only released 3 figures, most collectors have gotten them already. I have noticed that they are selling pretty good.
