Oh, dear God. Basically, whatever momentum the Bayverse built up with HFTD/RTS is pretty much kaput at this point?

 

I don't want any GIMMICKS. Not a one. Just give me a Bayverse Optimus Prime that builds on the ROTF Leader. Or even Battle Blade Prime. This one, however, has an innacurate chest, innacurate upper torso, inaccurate forearms, what looks to be an inarticulated sun-visor and one HELL of an oversized backpack, the same old upper arm kibble and the same old inarticulated fingers. My lord, even the truck mode looks squished. The trailer is okay, but a trailer does not make up for a very mediocre looking figure with mayfly wings.

Recall that Optimus is supposed to be slightly re-designed for DOTM. Perhaps the upper chest and (as much as I hate the thought) the arms are indeed screen accurate. Regardless, I agree, the cartoonishly oversized wings look silly.

 

According to the blurb accompanying the pics, this is a Voyager fig. If that's true, then dammit, why didn't they re-tool Battle Blades Prime?

 

That said, I'll hold off judgment until I see the command center mode and some more pics of production versions.

Damn, what were they thinking? That looks frickin hideous. I think if I had to put all three movie Primes together, side by side, and pick which one I would spare from a barrage of .25g BB bullets, it would be the ROTF Prime. The DOTM and the Movie '07 versions would get shot and shredded to plastic kibble.

Although the ROTF leader Prime is more screen accurate, I prefer the look of movie 1 leader Prime. I don't know, it just looks better in my opinion, in bot and truck mode, especially with the rubber tires....

Yes, but giving him Cybertron Crumplezone's arms=fail. Redoing the chest and such is fine, but the arms are too bulky. Besides, I was under the impression the changes were going to be more subtle to make him look more heroic.

Yes. I hope there's some way to make this compatible, or a third party group will make a system that will allow it to be compatible w/ BB Prime.

Definitely.

I like vehicle mode, and robot mode. Combined mode is just not what I had hoped for.

I get it now - everything we have seen so far is just a diversion - to throw us off - like when Bay said Megs would not return and then BAM there he was. This is the same thing right? Show us garbage and then BAM! here are the real toys, and these dont suck.

He does look an aweful lot like a Christmas tree star though, so it's got that going for it. He definitely looks a bit like a crappy Nova Prime or better yet: Jesus.
