ROTF Constructicons

Recommended Posts

I like this! Any further work I do on Devastator I'm going to post over there...

Not bad. But with rubberbands isnt my idea of a transformer (for ME anyway). I take it you cant have Supreme Devs on all fours then?

Oh yeah, about Scrapper in the movie, he was in the movie and uses his hand as a melee weapon to break down a wall. He looks cool. I almost think i may have seen a 1/2 second shot with Overload in it as well. :shrug

Dude, Grimlock-imus Prime did a pretty damn bang up job with what Hasbro gave us! I hear where deceptikhan's coming from not being crazy about the rubberbands, but looks like that did prove to be the quickest way to get this mod to come together...literally! ;) Perhaps a little modeling glue and some customized peg pieces could later replace the rubberbands...whatever the case, I think it's a valiant effort! :thumb

IF you guys want to see a RotF Devastator made up of transformable Constructicons, check this out: Devastator

Here's my thing, if FANS can do that, why the hell can't Has/Tak!?!

They only have trained designers, mock up stations, computers, and millions of dollars...

Whenever you see a fan custom job in the works though, normaly all you see is a table top, some paint, and an exacto knife. AND they make the dame thing look and work better!

Nice find Tramp!!! Seeing something that cool and knowing we didn't even get half of it is well worth being miffed about. Still, thanks for sharing all that Awesome!!!

Wow that is awesome!

Some damn interesting stuff going on with these customs! :thumb Which begs the question, "why not, Hasbro?!" But honestly, after the past few series, it's no surprise anymore that Hasbro can't finish a damn thing... :P

Gotta agree with you, I personally feel Hasbro has done a pretty shit job on the Combiners in the ROTF line inparticularly. How the hell can you say a Devastator made up of decent sized figures with both a robot and a vehicle mode would be to complex....yet make just that but at a fraction of the size? I mean honestly at least a Devastator along the lines of the one might at least be worth it for the $100 price but the one they put out was just....crap.

Same goes for Power-Up Prime, not only did the Leader Jetfire figure disappoint me (it was still a pretty good figure) but the "official" combined mode looked and posed horribly, luckily the fans came up with alternate modes. Speaking of which I posted the Power-Up Prime I've had on my table for a month or two now and kinda forgot to post it....go figure.

Anywho I did upgrade the Devastator I made awhile ago with some new parts and tried to paint some parts on him, I'll try posting a pic or something tomorrow.

The reason why Hasbro didn't was money. Such a figure would have cost too much to produce at that size and complexity, especially using all seven Constructicons. There's also the safety regulations that toys have to pass. Legends class figures are simpler by design, and thus it's easier to create a fully transforming set of Constructicons and still have them combine. Kitbashers don't have those kinds of limitations since we build one of a kind pieces which are then primarily models and not toys anymore, and certainly wouldn't pass the safety tests required under US child safety laws that toy companies have to follow. To create and mass produce a Supreme class Dvastator which could break down into seven fully transformable and articulated Constructicons, and have it pass all of the required child safety tests would be cost prohibitive. The final toy, if they did invest that kind of money, would end up costing the consumers (us) well over $200 to $300 US . It's simply not financially viable.

They could of just sold them seperately, and have each pieces of the instructions to combine with each constructicon. Lego did that with Bionicle so....
